A trio of players was booted from a big-money Fortnite tournament over the weekend after one member tweeted Donald Mustard telling him to kill himself.

A Fortnite trio has been disqualified from a tournament in which $3 million was up for grabs for an ill-thought-out tweet by one of its members. The tweet, as well as the account it was sent from, has since been deleted. It read "Like literally fucking k!ll your$elf @DonaldMustard," and was sent by a player called Wrigley. Mustard is the head of Fortnite developer Epic.

It's assumed the tweet was sent in anger after Wrigley's trio wasn't performing too well in last weekend's Fortnite Champion Series. Wrigley and their teammates Dictate and Userz were rock bottom of their group in the tournament after having played six matches. However, even finishing bottom would have landed the team a lot of prize money.

That's due to the fact everyone competing in the tournament will have earned their spot after a full season of hard work. However, following their disqualification, Wrigley, Dictate, and Userz will now receive nothing. Dictate has posted a tweet informing his followers of exactly what happened, including a screenshot of the email sent to them by Epic.

Both Dictate and Userz are attempting to appeal the decision since they were technically punished for something they didn't do. "What Wrigley did was completely out of our control and we put endless amount of time into the game for a chance at life-changing money," Userz tweeted in his plea to Epic. They have questioned why they weren't allowed to bring in an emergency sub, and have also asked that they get their share of the last-place prize money, which is still a significant amount.

The trio was competing in the NA East prize pool and still had six matches to go. That pool alone had $690,000 up for grabs, and it's completely feasible the disqualified trio would not have wound up finishing bottom. It's unclear at this moment whether Userz and Dictate will receive any compensation from Epic for the actions of their teammate that resulted in all three of them being booted. Their quest to qualify for next season's FNCS will begin tomorrow when season six begins.
