First, you were able to carry a fort around with you on Fortnite, now if you're lucky you might land yourself an entire fortress.
There are a number of different battle royale style games out there to choose from right now, or at least games with battle royale modes. It truly is the latest video game craze and if developers want players to choose them over all the others, their game needs to have a unique twist.
There's no arguing that Fortnite is the most popular battle royale style game at present. PUBG may have once been on a level playing field but its rival has now far surpassed it. There are many things that make Fortnite unique when it comes to the battle royale arena, but the main one is the need for its players to build. If you can build fast and well on Fortnite then you'll probably do okay down on that island.
What about those of us who aren't that good at building? As bullets start raining down we panic as we try to switch from our weapons to our building tools, only to have our one wooden wall shot to bits almost instantly. Well, Fortnite threw us a lifeline, the port-a-fort. A contraption that, when used, erects a ready-made fort for you to hide out in and shoot down from.
In reality, for an experienced player, taking down one of those forts probably isn't that tall an order. A fortress on the other hand, now that's more like it. Fortnite revealed on YouTube this week that it has now added the port-a-f0rtress and, as you can see from the clip above, it makes the port-a-fort look like that easily destroyed single wooden wall we were talking about earlier.
If you are lucky enough to come across a port-a-fortress, they are a legendary item so they won't be just anywhere, then choose wisely when you're deciding where to throw it up. Set it up too early and it could end up being engulfed by the storm before you get a chance to make real use of it. Too late, and you could be killed before you get the chance to use it at all. It's a fine line, make sure you tread it carefully.
