Epic Games is enhancing Fortnite's graphics on PC with the impending Chapter 2 Season 7 update. When using the reworked "Epic" setting, you'll notice improved postprocessing, shadow quality, and a variety of other enhanced effects.

Chapter 2 Season 7 is expected to begin on June 8, and it's bringing more than just a fresh Battle Pass to work through. Epic Games has completely reworked Fortnite's graphics on PC but – while the game will no doubt look great for anyone who can run it – it also comes with a change in recommended specs. If your rig does manage to meet the minimum requirements for the "Epic" setting, you'll be treated to the following enhancements:

  • Improved postprocessing
  • Improved shadow quality
  • Modified Storm and cloud effects
  • Enhanced simulations for smoke and liquid
  • "Cooler-looking" explosions, fire, and Slurp effects
  • Changes to Bloom and Lens Flares

Some of these effects were already introduced on Xbox Series X and PS5 last year and are just now making their way to PC. In order to take advantage of the reworked graphics, here are the Epic Quality Presets specs you'll need:

  • Nvidia GTX 1080, AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT, or equivalent GPU
  • 4 GB VRAM or higher
  • Intel Core i7-8700, AMD Ryzen 7 3700x, or equivalent
  • 16 GB RAM or higher
  • NVMe Solid State Drive
  • Windows 10 64-bit

Epic Games is also changing the recommended GPU for Fortnite, which is now Nvidia GTX 960, AMD R9 280, or equivalent DX11 GPU. The team is also recommending you run the game on Windows 10 64-bit, although you'll still be able to play Fortnite on Windows 7 and Windows 8.

Fortnite has been busy as of late, with the arrival of aliens, Neymar Jr, and a massive NBA crossover. Expect even more content to arrive next week, as Fortnite charges headfirst into Season 7.

Season 7 is expected to arrive in Fortnite on June 8, and will bring the reworked "Epic" settings to all PC players.
