One of the players who placed last in the Duos portion of the Fortnite World Cup has been surprisingly upbeat about his efforts.

After months of hype, it feels as if the Fortnite World Cup went by in the blink of an eye. The tournament took place in New York City this past weekend and was absolutely action-packed. During a breathless few days, Epic handed out $30 million in prize money. The weekend's top prize, an incredible $3 million, went to the Solo World Cup winner, Bugha.

The weekend wasn't just about individuals of course, but Duos as well. The big story from the Duos half of the World Cup was one of the players who finished second. A 15-year-old controller-user from the UK. Just one of the reasons why the tournament is being hailed as a success. However, for every player that did well over the weekend, there is one that didn't.

Enter Twizz, one of the players who finished dead last in the Duos World Cup at the weekend. With an arena full of people and over a million people watching on Twitch, we'd totally understand if Twizz and his Duos partner CoverH had reacted poorly. It was quite the opposite, though. Twizz took to Twitter to admit how bad he was rather than place blame elsewhere.

"We sucked. We weren't prepared. What I thought makes a good player was completely wrong," Twizz wrote on Twitter. He elaborated on that in a direct message to Polygon. Twizz admitted that he went into the tournament believing the key to winning would be to hold up and avoid conflict. However, he and CoverH quickly realized the best players were those who went looking for fights and finished off opponents quickly.

Not only was that the order of the day all weekend, but it also made for much more entertaining viewing. Had the tournament reached a point where players built fortresses and waited for opponents and the storm to come to them, we can't imagine more than 1 million viewers would have tuned in. Hopefully, more amateur players take note and make the game more exciting for everyone.
