Forza Horizon 5 launches on Xbox Series X|S and PC today and it's the first game in the series to include gender neutral pronouns as an option.

Forza Horizon 5 launches today after a day filled with glowing reviews about the new racing game earlier this week. Critics have been so positive about the newest game in the series that it is currently the highest rated game of 2021 on some sites. Perhaps Game of the Year could go to a racing game this year.

The reasons why Forza 5 is getting such great reviews go beyond its core mechanics. There's an attention to detail there that hasn't been in the series before, not to mention a level of inclusion most might not expect from a racing game. As you can see in the screenshot below, Forza 5 is the first game in the series to include neutral pronouns as an option.

The character creation screen is the first players will see after being introduced to the game, at which point they will be able to customize any number of things about their driver. Their hair, skin, how their driver's voice sounds, but also how they will be referred to in-game. Either using he/him, she/her, or they/them.

The addition of neutral pronouns isn't the only way Playground Games has made Forza 5 the most inclusive game in its series through its character creation. You are also able to give your driver prosthetic arms and legs. Creating a character in your own image is a huge thing for a lot of gamers, especially if they plan on playing that game a lot. The more elements the creation process includes to allow people to accurately recreate themselves in-game, the better.

A lot of great things are being said about Forza Horizon 5. Since the game only launched hours ago, it's likely even more details will be discovered in the coming days. The game also features some new novelty horns to go with the ones available in Forza 4. You will now be able to make your car play themes from Doom, Halo, and Banjo-Kazooie, among others.
