A new line of Hot Wheels model cars will be launched in August, in collaboration with Forza Horizon. This line will include the likes of the Mercedes-Benz A-Class, Corvette C7.R and Porsche 911 GT3 RS.

As spotted by VGC, the news came via acclaimed Hot Wheels blog, T-Hunted, which shared a picture of the Porsche model on it’s Instagram page. A notable thing about the packaging is the desert background, which is in line with news that the next game will be set in Mexico.

A Twitter exchange between VentureBeat's Jeff Grubb and Windows Central's Jez Corden suggested that the game will not be based in the US, but rather in its neighbour to the South.

Grubb replied to Corden’s tweet, which said "I really want to visit Mexico some day." In his reply, Grubb used the phrase "El coche va vroom" (meaning "the car goes vroom" in Spanish).

Grub further added to the rumour when he went onto the Iron Lords Podcast on May 2 and said, “Let’s start with Forza and the Mexican flag, I wonder what that means.”

“The rumour was always Japan, right?" he added. "I got some fake screenshots a long time ago that I never shared, that were in Japan, and I was like, ‘that’s not real.’ It turned out that wasn’t real." Ultimately, after all the theatrics calmed down, Grubb confidently said, “So yeah, it’s in Mexico.”

The popularity of Forza Horizon 4 can’t be questioned. It became one of the most played racing games on Steam within 24 hours of its release, even though it had been out for three years prior to that. The game reached over 200,000 concurrent players by March 11, beating out the likes of Cyberpunk 2077 and Red Dead Redemption 2.

Meanwhile, Hot Wheels is busy gearing up for the launch of its own game, Hot Wheels Unleashed, on September 30, 2021. The gameplay reveal video featured some of the iconic model vehicles by the toy company, including the Rodger Dodger, Twin Mill, Rip Road, Night Shifter, Dragon Blaster, and the Sharkruiser. They were racing each other on a Hot Wheels track set.
