If there's one thing video games have taught players it's that aliens are scary. Necromorphs, Xenomorphs, and The Flood are just some of the terrifying creatures that exist beyond our solar system that want to murder, abduct, or both. But in a universe filled with infinite possibilities, there's gotta be some nice aliens out there, right?

Fortunately, there are. Movies have shown us that for every Predator or Thing there is also an E. T. or a Stitch. And in video games, there are plenty of examples of aliens that are as friendly as they come. So let's take a look at the kindest individual aliens in all of video gamedom!

10 Elvis (Perfect Dark)

A classic gray alien named Elvis in an American flag tank top and sneakers

Perfect Dark is the unofficial sequel to GoldenEye, starring Joanna Dark as she tries to stop an extraterrestrial disaster between rival corporations from destroying Earth. When there's the threat of intergalactic war, there has to be at least someone who has a sense of humor. In Perfect Dark, that's Elvis.

Elvis doesn't have a gorgeous baritone voice or shake his hips. Instead, he is your classic big-headed, gray alien who loves the US of A. First seen when Joanna rescues him from Area 51, Elvis is always willing to give her a weapon, while doing his best to maintain a cheery disposition. He's even integral to saving Joanna's life at the very end of the game! Seeing the two of them walk away together really shows how close friends they are.

9 Baby Metroid (Metroid)

The titular enemies of the Metroid series are terrifying arthopods that feed off the life energy of every living creature around them. They have no known predators other than Samus Aran, and there is always tension whenever you battle one in game. Which is why it's so surprising when one helps you at the end of Super Metroid.

As she exterminated all of the Metroids, Samus found one called Baby that she actually kept alive and raised. Eventually Baby would escape, but when Samus was about to die at the hands of Mother Brain, Baby came back. It restored Samus' life force and battled with Mother Brain, sacrificing itself so that Samus would have a chance at victory. Despite the entire species being known for taking life, the Baby Metroid displayed kindness by giving its life for the one creature that ever showed it love.

8 Buzz Buzz (Earthbound)

Some aliens are humanoid. Others are insectoid. And some of them are literally just a bug. But what Buzz Buzz from Earthbound lacks in size, he more than makes up for in strength and kindness. Seriously, how many beings would travel through time via meteorite to save a completely different species?

What really emphasizes Buzz Buzz's kindness is Pokey's cowardice. As Pokey hides from battle and thinks only of himself, Buzz Buzz will defend people he just met with a PSI Shield, and provide guidance. All this makes his sudden death at the hand of Pokey's mom, Lardna, even more tragic. Even though Buzz Buzz is not a bee, he does have one big similarity. He seems small and insignificant, but his impact is bigger than anyone could realize.

7 Buddy (Another World)

Another World (or Out Of This World in North America) tells the story of Lester Knight Chaykin, who gets sent to another planet after the particle accelerator he's experimenting on is struck by lightning. After he's captured by aliens and put in prison, Lester meets a captive he refers to as Buddy — who more than lives up to his name.

Buddy is always there for Lester, defending him against guards and navigating him through the prison at the cost of his own capture. This is sad at first, but pays off whenever you see him also escaping parallel to you. This is also true for the big escape at the end, where both Lester and Buddy fly off into the horizon. Buddy isn't the most emotive alien here, but his dedication to helping his friend is something everyone can relate to.

6 Abe (Oddworld)

Abe from Oddworld Abe's Oddysee

The Mudokons have a sad history. Once the dominant race of Oddworld, they became a race born into enslavement after the Glukkons turned on them. And once Abe finds out that his entire race is going to be turned into popsicles, he escapes RuptureFarms, the meat processing plant he's always lived in.

However, once he escapes and learns the truth of the mistreatment of his people, Abe goes back to rescue the Mudokons from RuptureFarms. Yes, he may be clumsy, gullible, and naive, but he still has a heart of gold and will help anyone in need. He also becomes quite literally a Christ-like figure to the Mudokons. If you're being compared to Jesus, you must be kind.

5 The Prince (Katamari Damacy)

Even though The Prince is the main character of Katamari Damacy, he's never been the focus of the public. That honor has always gone to The King of All Cosmos, who will always tell you that's how it should be. But what cannot be denied is that The Prince is one of the nicest and most helpful aliens there has ever been.

The entire first game is about how The Prince is helping The King of All Cosmos clean up the universe, after he destroys all the stars in a drunken stupor. Each game after that is just The Prince filling the requests of all the occupants on Earth. It can be argued that The Prince is doing this just because The King tells him to, or that rolling up these Katamari is actually destroying someone's life, but there's something about that sweet little face that says "I'm here for you and it's all going to be ok." And I believe him.

4 Mission Vao (Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic)Mission Vao on the Ebon Hawk forgiving the main character

To this day, people still cite Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic as their favorite Star Wars game of all time, and it's easy to see why. The story is incredibly deep, and the different characters are some of the best in the franchise — even including the psychotic assassin droid HK-47 and neutral Jedi Jolee Bindo. But one of the deepest characters is the Twi'lek Mission Vao.

Mission Vao is not just the youngest crewmember on the Ebon Hawk, but also the moral center. Despite being raised in the slums of Taris and having her brother abandon her, Mission is cheerful. She becomes a beacon of positivity amongst the crew, and she often befriends people who have a dark or hidden past, like the main character or Zaalbar the Wookie. This optimism makes her a stand out character and, more importantly, a forgiving friend.

3 Ratchet (Ratchet and Clank)

Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart protagonists

It takes a lot to be a hero. You have to be strong, brave, and always good. But not all heroes start off that way. In Ratchet and Clank, both heroes are remarkably kind people. But while the robot Clank seems to be programmed as the nicest person ever, that was not always the case with Ratchet.

In their very first game, Ratchet was kind of a jerk. He focused mostly on what would be good for himself, like getting a Hoverboard or getting help repairing his ship. But as the series went on, Ratchet would become kinder to members of every galaxy. Yes, he and Clank will save the world, but he'll also take the time to help out a plumber or a chef. So, while Ratchet didn't really start off as the friendliest alien ever, he eventually matured into the hero we recognize today.

2 Garrus Vakarian (Mass Effect)

Garrus And Female Sheppard Putting Their Heads Together

The Mass Effect series is filled with different companions you can recruit, befriend, and romance. Every one of these companions has different positives and negatives, and while every player has different personal favorites, no one can deny that the best is Garrus Vakarian.

Garrus is a Turian, and is one of the few teammates that helps Shephard in every Mass Effect game. He's also a different kind of friend. No matter what decision you make, he'll support you. He'll tell you you're wrong, but he'll support you. Garrus is that ride-or-die friend that will stick by you until the end of the universe.

1 Kirby (Kirby)

Kirby is an alien, even if most people never think of them this way. They travel from planet to planet on a star, and are even known to operate a mech. However, there is never a question regarding Kirby's friendliness. They aren't just the friendliest alien ever, they're probably the friendliest fictional character of all time.

Kirby is the definition of kindness and positivity. When they're battling other Nintendo icons in Super Smash Bros, Kirby's taunt has them yelling "Hi!" while waving their hands. In the Kirby games, Kirby is always sweet to King Dedede every time they defeat him. Kirby is even shaped as a friend! Kirby is simple, adorable, and easily the friendliest alien in video games.
