Deadpool 2 is almost finally here (at least from the point of view from this writer who writes this before the film has released) and if you have seen the film before reading this article then you will know just how hyped watching the film must have made you. This hype is shared by those who haven’t watched the film either and to keep them occupied this list should offer a taste of Deadpool’s comedic chops. Deadpool 2’s promotion has seen much of the same eccentricities the first Deadpool saw. And if it ain’t broke don’t fix it, right?

Since 2016, once people knew Deadpool was a character they needed to be aware of as at the time his popularity was booming, most comic book movie fans have become familiar with the Merc with a Mouth. These people know best of Deadpool’s strongest feature, which is the ability to break the fourth wall. This ability is employed in the real world too as part of marketing as there are hundreds of film posters that show the character parodying another film’s poster. In fact, a good portion of the following pictures aren’t even memes, instead they are the very same parodied posters just mentioned.

When you’ve got someone like Deadpool, who himself is like a walking breathing meme, then why bother making memes, right? Still, there are memes made by witty fans that should be easy to get for similar true fans.

24 No Apologies

via pinterest.com

A lot of the people weren’t aware of what to expect from Deadpool when the film came out in 2016. Before that they only had X-Men Origins: Wolverine to draw the character’s traits from and it was after they saw the opening couple minutes of Deadpool that these people realized they were watching someone not even remotely like the X-Men Origins: Wolverine version.

A lot of people were uneasy by Deadpool’s style.

In countries where censorship was a must, Deadpool was barely understandable as about half of the movie got cut out for being too adult-oriented to show in public. If Deadpool were given the option to comment on the offended position he had placed the unwitting people in he would definitely send a message such as the one above. It would be completely counterproductive to let Deadpool know you have been offended by him. That would be like handing someone a loaded gun during battle. Deadpool can and will belittle you for being such a snowflake that a film gets you offended. First, he will make you feel as if an apology on his part is in order but you can be certain a little later will come the insults your way.

23 Had Enough Of This

So Deadpool can break the fourth wall, that’s just about common knowledge by now. But everyone thinks the guy can only break the fourth wall when he is part of a comic book or movie. Turns out Deadpool knows his nature as a fictional character in any situation. The above scenario is one where Deadpool realizes he is part of a meme. When it became popular to make memes depicting Deadpool in weird situations this one came about. But its uniqueness is such that Deadpool can’t help but exasperated for once rather than intrigued. As a fictional character, it must get annoying when people put you in repeatedly mundane situations for the comedic effect, it would be especially annoying if you were a fictional character who knows he is one.

Thus, for this instance, Deadpool isn’t feeling like himself and it’s not all fun and game for the time being. Comic book nerds love creating memes about their favorite characters more than anyone else, which is why we have so many Marvel and DC memes in abundance nowadays, and Deadpool has also figured out it is these very nerds who have him trapped in a meme of his own.

22 Literal Cable

via pinterest.com

You cannot deny that for all of Deadpool’s juvenile antics he certainly has his fair share of smart humor. Deadpool is a great mix of someone who can be very open with his jokes or very subtle. People have different preferences and for this reason, Deadpool may just be the perfect superhero to follow as he can provide one or the either. For those who might not know or remember, for the first Deadpool film, there was a poster that became popular that depicted the name of Deadpool in literal emoticons. A skull formed the first portion of the name, with the #2 emoji the second portion and a simple ‘L’ to complete the name. It’s funnier if you just go and see the poster.

Something similar has been done here for Deadpool 2. We are aware that Cable will be the co-protagonist, or antagonist depending on which way you want to look at it, so it makes perfect sense to have these two on the poster. And you can’t really argue with this logic, can you? We do see Deadpool and cable in this picture. Of course, it is a literal cable as opposed to the person but they delivered what they promised.

21 Subtle Wordplay

via imgflip.com

Another good example of Deadpool’s subtle comedy. This one might be more difficult to pick up on than the previous one. It might be obvious to either quick-witted people or those who have a nasty sense of humor. Either way, it is a smart joke which will at least get a chuckle out of you. For those who haven’t gotten it the best hint would be to focus more on the ‘Pea soup’ part of the meme. Still having a hard time? Then go back to the beginning and concentrate on the difference between Roast beef and Pea soup. By this point, it should be becoming clearer what Deadpool is implying here.

If you still haven’t gotten it then let us just cut to the chase. Roast beef and Pea soup sound harmless and nothing like what one would expect in a joke. But here is where the wordplay kicks in. You might like both roast beef and pea soup but anyone can roast beef because it is impossible to pea soup. Deadpool has subtly thrown in a rather gross joke where he wants people to picture perhaps Deadpool himself presenting someone with his own brand of soup. Word of advice: Don’t drink it.

No movie is out of bounds for Wade to invade. Some are more suited to him than others. It is understandable too, as if one were to know they were part of a fictional universe they would most certainly want to escape it from time to time and invade those that they’ve always wanted to. Quentin Tarantino’s universe is one of the prime ones for Deadpool as its characters and setting should make him feel right at home. Pulp Fiction has its fair share of wacky characters with the story playing out very casually. Over the years there have been many re-enactments of the famous car scene where Vincent Vega accidentally shoots Marvin in the face.

Deadpool combines Race to Witch Mountain with Pulp Fiction in this scenario. A popular meme from that movie is one where The Rock is flabbergasted at the girl in the backseat either making ridiculous claims or not having any idea about something important to him. On this occasion, it is The Rock’s question whether the girl liked Deadpool or not. When she answers she has no idea who Deadpool even is matters are taken over by Deadpool himself who masquerades as Vincent Vega and executes the girl for her inadvertent insult.

19 Deadpool's Heart Will Go On

Get ready to have one of the most tear-inducing scenes ruined for you. The ending of Titanic has divided many people over the years. In 1997, when the movie has just been released, the ending was seen as tragically perfect as there was apparently no way both Rose and Jack could have safely stowed away on the piece of ship wreckage at the end, which cost Jack his life and Rose went on to live a life of adventure as a promise to her deceased lover. Later on, however, numerous people have debunked the notion that only one of them could have occupied the platform and both could have survived.

If Deadpool had had his way he would’ve been able to point this out to the two star-crossed lovers. Considering he knows he is a fictional character he could hop into the Titanic movie and, with his healing factor keeping him safe, he would definitely have interrupted the final scene. There’s no doubt both Jack and Rose would have been startled greatly at seeing a guy in a red bodysuit casually drifting away in the ice cold waters. Funnily enough, he doesn’t even offer Jack some space he himself is resting on, instead commending their love and comparing it to his relationship with Dopinder.

18 Enough Deadpool To Go Around

via instagram.com by Geekfacts

This is probably not common knowledge but film productions always have completely different titles during production. There are very few big budget movies that don’t employ this practice and you can be certain if a film like The Avengers or Justice League is in the midst of production then their titles during filming will be far off. It also works like that for TV productions such as the finale of Seinfeld which was known as ‘A Tough Nut to Crack’. The working title of that episode should be an indication why films and TV shows opt to have strange names.

This is done to throw off snoopers from uncovering plot details and leaking it before the studio is ready to reveal them. In the case of Deadpool 2, the film was technically untitled right up until release when it was officially called its final name. Up until then, it was believed that the movie would be called something else. During production, it opted for the title of Love Machine. While this would throw off potential spoilers it fits perfectly with the theme of the Deadpool series. Deadpool would no doubt consider himself as something of a love machine. During reshoots, the production title was altered to be renamed as Daisy.

17 Simple Solution

via youtube.com

As mentioned previously, there all sorts of offended people who took their unassuming children to watch Deadpool in 2016 and found out to their horror that this was far from the usual superhero movie offering. A small minority attempted to make Deadpool’s adult-oriented content an issue with complaints being made on social media. But these people only have themselves to blame as the film did come with an R rating that should have made it obvious that children are not allowed. In many countries, the R rating rule is not strictly followed and so this would be the reason why children were able to enter the cinema to watch Deadpool.

The first Deadpool movie was also good in notifying parents that not all superhero movies are for kids.

Deadpool does kind of resemble Spider-Man and unwitting parents could have made the connection from the friendly neighborhood to the Merc with a Mouth, which was a grave mistake. This resemblance was also referenced to in the Ashes music video by Celine Dion where the singer mistakenly calls Deadpool as Spider-Man. All in all, there’s a very simple way to avoid children watching Deadpool 2: Don’t take them to watch it.

16 Your Argument Is Irrelevant

Deadpool 2 is not the only big budget film releasing in the coming months. In fact, Deadpool 2’s box office receipts should be engulfed by other movies releasing around the same time. Only a week after Deadpool 2’s release comes Solo: A Star Wars Story which, despite the usual drama of overly emotional Star Wars nerds, is expected to gross superbly. And then only a month later comes the big daddy of releases in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. Jurassic World had made $1.670 billion in 2015 and its sequel is expected to do the same.

Deadpool is well aware of these juggernaut movies and the competition they will bring. In his favor, he can take some shots at those films’ expense or simply accept the fact that they will take away business from Deadpool 2. To this end, we have this bizarre meme where Deadpool has combined all three huge releases together. We have Deadpool himself riding atop a Velociraptor and wearing a cowboy hat. It doesn’t end there as Deadpool also has a lightsaber in tow to complete the picture. Needless to say, Deadpool is pretty hyped for both Solo: A Star Wars Story and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, but this meme has the effect of hyping up Deadpool 2 as well.

15 Batman V Deadpool

via pinterest.com

A list of memes involving a Marvel character wouldn’t be complete without a few aimed at DC’s expense. While Deadpool isn’t part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe he does stem from Marvel Comics and is well aware of the happenings of other comic as well. Case in point is seen in the Deadpool 2 trailer where while being interrogated by Cable Wade comments that Cable is so dark he might have had his origins from the DC universe. To those who didn’t get it, the DC Extended Universe is notorious for keeping its storylines much darker in essence compared to Marvel’s movies. Deadpool is the lightest of offering from a Marvel character so it is natural he should feel the urge to poke fun at DC.

In this image we have him pestering Batman. In 2014 the first shot of DCEU’s Batman was released on the internet that showed the Caped Crusader brooding with the Batmobile in the backdrop. The picture was also in black and white so as to drive home Batman’s dark aspect. Here we have Deadpool joining him but as Deadpool is far from a brooding sort of person he gets bored quickly and cuts to the chase by asking Batman what exactly it is they are supposed to be looking at.

14 The Coolness Gene

via pinterest.com

It’s not clear what Cable’s family history will be like as at the time of writing Deadpool 2 is still a few days away but if things were to follow the way they went in the comic books then we should be seeing Cyclops’ son make his debut in this movie. With X-Men: Days of Future Past erasing all of the events from X-Men Origins: Wolverine to X-Men: The Last Stand we have a new timeline that has been playing out in X-Men: Apocalypse, Deadpool, Logan and now Deadpool 2Dark Phoenix will begin a new trilogy aimed at the younger X-Men.

So it is likely Cyclops might be shown to parent a young cable by the end of said trilogy.

For the time being, we can imagine a scenario where Deadpool has Cable in his phone contact list – complete with listing his name surrounded by hearts – where Cable informs Deadpool that Cyclops is his father. In all iterations of X-Men Cyclops is always the stoic, rather boring leader of the group which is why he rarely tops peoples’ lists of favorite X-Men. Cable’s justification is that coolness skips a generation in the family which is why he is all that cool.

13 Making Winnie Cool

via pinterest.com

With Disney set to acquire 20th Century Fox in the near future, we will have Deadpool and Winnie the Pooh existing as part of the same company. This would mean a crossover in any sort of media between the two characters will be an absolute possibility. For now, they can’t be seen together as their owners are different but we can still find amusement from fan edits. Winnie is as far away from relevance to Deadpool as one can imagine. He is a bear with an obsession with honey, and to be honest is a real ninny whose purpose is to appeal to the sensitive side of children. There aren’t any moments in Winnie the Pooh media where the character has been what we may call cool.

All that could change if Deadpool would meet Winnie the Pooh thereby giving the bear a radical makeover. Deadpool will not hold back even if it means taking away the innocent aspects of Winnie’s personality. It is more likely that we will see a gun-toting, foul-mouthed bear by the time Deadpool is finished with him. This makes us hope Disney gets a move on with its acquisition of Fox so someday this might become a reality.

12 The Merc On Fire

via pinterest.com

Let’s move into young adult category as part of Deadpool’s poster parody parade. The Merc with a Mouth is pulling out all the stops in hyping up his latest release, and what better way to do so than poke fun at all the other popular movies that have been released beforehand. What you will notice is that there are ever so slight things that are common between Deadpool and the movies he is parodying. In this instance, it is Katniss’ get up. The young rebel put on an interesting suit for the poster of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 where she is seen in complete dark red leathered clothing.

While Katniss is too busy being serious, Deadpool is busy doing the opposite.

One might say he is taking a shot at The Hunger Games for possibly ripping off his costume. Katniss’ style resembles Deadpool’s quite a lot and although Deadpool arrived a year after The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2, the character’s costume was well known beforehand thanks to his comics and TV series appearances. Imagining Deadpool as part of The Hunger Games universe is an interesting thought. No doubt he would have won it in cinch considering he has that healing factor.

11 A Missed Chance

via pinterest.com

This isn’t relevant anymore as we know that David Leitch has directed Deadpool 2, but after the runaway success of Deadpool in 2016, there was much speculation of who would take the helm for Deadpool 2. There was some minor controversy with the departure of Deadpool’s director Tim Miller due to creative differences with the main star Ryan Reynolds, which led to the hunt for an appropriate successor to direct the sequel. In the earlier days, all sorts of names were running wild with seemingly no one out of the running for the position. At one point the Soska Sisters led requests to be hired to direct the movie.

There was even a fan petition which sought to have these sisters take the helm.

The Soska sisters, also known as the Twisted Sisters thanks to their hand in making eerie movies like See No Evil 2, are big comic book fans and believed they would do the character of Deadpool justice. Around that time multiple memes came out wanting fan support to double and have these sisters hired. One of these has Deadpool himself fanboying over the possibility of having the Soska Sisters as his directors. We have to wonder what that movie would have been like, had they been given the chance.

10 As Good As It Gets

Make no mistake here. This is an actual big screen legend right here. To the many people who aren’t familiar with this man. His name is Mithun Chakraborty, a pioneer of Bollywood action cinema. From the 1970s to the 1990s he was one of the biggest stars in Bollywood, for whom millions flocked over to watch his action films. But as the world has progressed further in the costume department his style seen here in his heyday leaves a lot to be desired. While it is unclear exactly which film of Mithun's this film is, he does don a red and black combo which is pretty amusing, to say the least. Even more amusing is the caption above which claims the image is a still from Deadpool 2.

Bollywood itself has seen good progress in the superhero department with films like Ra.One and Krrish so these memes should make the Asian fanbase laugh as well. When this meme was made, Deadpool 2 was far from over with his principal photography and leaked images were not present on the internet. Therefore, at the time this picture was as good as it got for those desperate for some spoilers for Deadpool 2.

9 Just So You Know

via imgflip.com

Ever since the release of Logan was imminent Ryan Reynolds has made it his life mission to convince Hugh Jackman back into the X-Men film series. Jackman had announced his retirement as Wolverine before Logan had been due for release and it was around that time that Deadpool had been enjoying its successful cinematic run of grossing $783 million worldwide. It’s a pity we won’t be seeing Jackman’s Wolverine share screen with this version of Deadpool as the two had been together in X-Men Origins: Wolverine with the lambasted version of Deadpool. But as Deadpool is well aware that Jackman was an actor playing the part of Wolverine he can make fun of this whenever he wants to.

Here Deadpool is seen reminding everyone he remains part of the X-Men universe when, as part of Deadpool 2’s teaser poster, he writes over the Men’s restroom sign. His drawing consists of making claws on the standing man full with Wolverine hairdo while the wheelchair sign has been made to reflect Professor X. To top it off the ‘Men’ sign has been added with an ‘X’ so that it now reads ‘X-Men.’ Ryan and Deadpool both are still all in for a Wolverine appearance.

8 So Perfect

via instagram.com by comicbookmemes

Josh Brolin is enjoying the time of his life at the moment. Who would have thought his high point would be at the age of 50? But the guy is riding high on the back of a surge of momentum thanks to Marvel products. Firstly he was seen as Thanos in the biggest movie of the year and the highest-grossing superhero film of all time in Avengers: Infinity War. That film is still playing strong in cinemas having made over $1.6 billion worldwide at the time of writing. Only 3 weeks later arrives another huge release in the superhero genre in the form of Deadpool 2. Here again, Josh plays the baddie, although a funnier and friendlier version than Thanos, as Cable makes his debut as a live-action character.

Who knew Thanos and Cable would turn out to be the same guy?

More importantly, who knew Josh Brolin would look so awesome as Cable? The character’s debut was ‘spoiled’ by Deadpool in the first movie and there was much speculation as to who would take the role, with some suggesting Brad Pitt as the frontrunner. But as soon as we saw the first preview of Josh as Cable it left no doubt that this guy was the real deal.

7 Guy Love

via pinterest.com

Most of the people going in to watch Deadpool 2 will not know what to expect as like the majority of comic book movie fans they have not been familiarized with the story from the comics. Most of the superheroes today whether it is Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, or Deadpool weren’t popular a decade or so ago and we had the juggernauts in Batman, Superman, and Spider-Man. Now that times have changed and people are interested in more edgy characters who show off more humor than was once in demand, the likes of Deadpool and Cable can truly shine. Their dynamic, though, isn’t all that unfamiliar.

This meme uses a Scrubs reference.

In the Scrubs episode ‘My Musical’, main characters JD and Turk sing about how much they love each other in a platonic way, telling us two guys can love each other without having romantic feelings. JD is the more sensitive of the two while Turk usually takes the masculine role. In the same way, Deadpool can be placed in the shoes of JD while Cable can be similar to Turk. In Deadpool 2 it appears they will have an antagonistic relationship but we all know Cable will eventually be warming up to the Merc with a Mouth.

6 Close Enough

via instagram.com

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has a habit of giving a costume upgrade to almost all of its characters in newer movies. As is evident in the case of main heroes like Iron Man, Captain America, and Spider-Man, they all get different costumes once a newer release is in place. Spider-Man had his first suit in Captain America: Civil War while a much more efficient version was given to him in Spider-Man: Homecoming, but even this felt like child’s play compared to the Iron Spider suit seen in Avengers: Infinity War. Many people who are unfamiliar with Deadpool tend to mistake him for Spider-Man. If you want proof just watch the Ashes music video where Celine Dion calls Deadpool as Spider-Man.

Unlike Spidey, Deadpool isn’t very big on getting a costume upgrade as he seems to be more than comfortable keeping the same get up. But in this poster for Deadpool 2, we see Deadpool acknowledging the similarity between himself and Spider-Man while also making fun of Spider-Man at the same time. There’s really no upgrade to his suit seen here except for him having sketched a web under his suit. In order to resemble Spider-Man further, Deadpool simply makes web shooting noises while doing the appropriate hand gesture.

5 Way Too Enthusiastic

via instagram.com

The Deadpool suit is brutal on Ryan Reynolds as it makes it difficult for the actor to breathe on many occasions. While the suit does look cool it is easy to see why it won’t be much fun to wear for long spaces of time. Ryan gets paid millions to wear it so if you’re thinking of getting one made for yourself and battle through while wearing it for no real reason then just save yourself the time and effort. There’s even a chance the suit might be too tight for you because it definitely was for Deadpool here.

In the first movie’s intro, Deadpool is up to all kinds of antics on the bridge shootout where he ends the lives of dozens of goons to get to Ajax. During this scene, he does a number of over the top moves to finish off the mooks. It’s not too difficult to imagine him commenting this very dialogue in that scene either as he did jump around a lot in that scene. Then again, we all know Deadpool’s love of quipping in the least appropriate of times so this just might be him playing the fool as usual.
