G2 Esports have been crowned as the 2020 League of Legends European Championship (LEC) Spring Split champions after defeating Fnatic with a clean 3-0 sweep in the Grand Final. This is G2’s seventh LEC, formerly European LCS, championship title.

G2 continued their 2019 dominance in 2020’s opening season, even after switching the roles of Luka “PerkZ” Perković and Rasmus “Caps” Winther for a second time. G2 topped the regular season standings with a 15-3 record, only taking losses to FC Schalke 04, MAD Lions, and Misfits Gaming. Grand Final opponents Fnatic finished second in the regular season, their only 0-2 loss coming at the hands of G2.

The multinational squad kicked off their play-offs run in the upper bracket, where they took an unexpected 2-3 loss to MAD Lions. Knocked down to the lower bracket, G2 defeated Origen and found revenge against MAD Lions to earn their Grand Final spot alongside Fnatic.

G2 exerted their dominance in the best-of-five Final, Luka “PerkZ” Perković’s Azir making quick work of Fnatic in games one and two. Game three brought a closer battle, though despite Tim "Nemesis" Lipovšek's best efforts, G2 managed to close out the series in 33 minutes. This is G2’s seventh domestic championship victory, tying them with Fnatic for the most LEC titles.

G2 Jungler Marcin "Jankos" Jankowski was named MVP of the Split. This win earns G2 a spot in the 2020 Mid-Season Invitational, which is currently scheduled to take place in July.
