Nintendo has announced that several classic games from both the Game Boy and Game Boy Advance are heading to the Nintendo Switch Online service later today. Game Boy games will be available for all Nintendo Switch Online subscribers, while those of you wishing to play Game Boy Advance titles will need to own the service's Expansion Pack.

Games from the Game Boy available on the service on launch include include Tetris, Super Mario Land 2 - 6 Golden Coins, The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX, Gargoyle's Quest, Game & Watch Gallery 3, Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare, Metroid 2 - Return of Samus, Wario Land 3, and Kirby's Dream Land, with more games to be added in the future. Better yet, you can choose from a variety of different color schemes to play these games, and some like Tetris will even support local and online multiplayer.

As for the Game Boy Advance games that will be available on the service on launch include Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3, WarioWare Inc.: Mega Microgames, Kuru Kuru Kururin, Mario Kart: Super Circuit, Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, and The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap. Just like with the Game Boy titles, these will support local and online co-op, and more titles will be introduced to the service in the future.

That was a pretty big announcement sure to excite a lot of Nintendo fans, but a much bigger and very surprising announcement followed shortly afterwards. We knew that a Metroid Prime remaster was in the works, but what we didn't expect was Nintendo making the title available to play today. We also got a closer look at The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom thanks to a new gameplay trailer, as well as release dates for both Pikmin 4 and Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp, both of which will release in the next few months. It's a pretty good time to be a Nintendo fan right about now.
