Many of us are familiar with the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator test, which is why some might be wondering what in the world that has to do with game consoles. It turns out that these personality types can be very telling when it comes to our gaming style and, as every gamer knows, everyone has a console preference.

So what will it be? Could there be a chance that certain personality types have a tendency to lean more toward retro games, while others can't help but engage in next-gen gaming? Or do some personalities have an affinity for the old-school while others dream of the days when their characters are in true HD? There's only one way to find out.

10 INTJ: Xbox 360

You might be looking at this and thinking, "Well, no one should have an Xbox 360..." But hear us out on this. Despite the red-ring issue with most of the models, the 360 gave way to some pretty great games during its time.

While this was corrected with the Xbox One, the 360 still remains very much a classic console—it was our generation's version of the PlayStation 2. The reason an INTJ will love this console is that it'll give their natural strategic minds something to fix and tinker with, which they might love more than actually playing it.

9 INTP: Nintendo 64

The drive for knowledge is what will have an INTP hooked on a Nintendo 64 and likely every Nintendo system before and after. The game series we're thinking of specifically is The Legend of Zelda, one which is full of adventure and mystery.

An INTP craves learning which must be an integral part of any game and game system, and the Nintendo 64 will open doors to classic games that allow this personality type to explore and decipher. A true fan of gaming, there's no end to the type of games they can use their reasoning and logic skills to win here.

8 ISFP: Nintendo Switch

The reason ISFPs get the Nintendo Switch is due to their desire for adventure and trying new things. Since it is still the biggest thing to come out of gaming consoles (until the PlayStation 5, of course), an ISFP would likely be all over it.

Their love for experiencing new things is what will keep them cycling through generations of game consoles. Rather than love only one, it's likely that they'll love one for some time, then move onto the next big thing. But for now, they'll definitely be in love with the Switch.

7 INFJ: PlayStation

Classic thinkers who find comfort in their solitude, an INFJ could very well make for a true gamer. While they tend to be loners, this doesn't mean they don't enjoy a classic game console.

The original PlayStation is still hailed today as one of the greatest consoles, which really helped to shape a new generation of gamers. An INFJ will find comfort in their RPGs, allowing them to deeply invest in the characters' emotional arcs. They'll love the fantasy aspect of most PlayStation games, too, such as Final Fantasy. They'll likely be PlayStation purists.

6 ENTJ: PlayStation 4

Of course, the PlayStation 4 goes to a bold and unmoveable personality, which happens to be ENTJ. Also known as the 'Commander,' this personality type will be drawn to anything that drives their competitive and leadership spirit up. They opt for the bold games: games which are action-packed and full of leveling up potential.

The better the graphics, the more fluid the battle system, and the more strategic the game, the better chance they'll have at loving it. This means a modern console is likely what they'll fall in love with. The only tough part will be settling on one game to platinum at a time.

5 ENFP: Sega Genesis

We're throwing it back even further with these consoles and ENFP is lucky enough to be awarded a true classic. Sega Genesis made headway with some gorgeous games for the time it was released, quickly becoming a popular pastime and starting off a generation of gamers with games they wouldn't soon forget.

ENFPs are creative by nature and have no problem socializing, which is why a Sega Genesis will be perfect for them, as well as their closest friends. They'd have plenty of options for this throwback system, including some couch co-op and classics that made history.

4 ESTJ: Gamecube

It takes a special type of person to love a Gamecube so much, and an ESTJ might just be the right person for the job. Gamecube gave way to plenty of memorable games, most of all Metroid, which was a hefty RPG for some time.

The skills and focus required to play many of these classic games is something that an ESTJ would have on lock, as their organizational and management skills are unparalleled. The process and time it would take them to get through a game such as this will likely be half the time it would take the average person, bringing them both satisfaction and accomplishment.

3 ESFP: Wii

A true entertainer, an ESFP will feel more than at home with a Wii system. Being as it's a console that encourages the gamer to get up and move, an ESFP will have endless fun with this type of system. Whether it's dancing, bowling, or owning their tennis game, an ESFP is always up for a new athletic adventure.

They're also known for being the life of the party, which means they'll likely be the first ones to show up at a gathering with their own game console. Don't be surprised if every party turns into a dance competition.

2 ISTJ: Atari

Known as the 'Logistician,' it only makes sense that an ISTJ would own one of the oldest, and most classic, console systems. Atari might be considered boring by today's standards, but back in the day, this was a modern marvel.

With games that require strategy and logic to play, an ISTJ would likely excel at most of them, if not all. While it might not be something that initially seems fun, an ISTJ wouldn't be able to help going into classic arcade mode and trying their hand at some of the games that spurred a new generation.

1 ENFJ: Super Nintendo

Yet another game system that paved the way for greatness, Super Nintendo is often everyone's first memory of gaming. An ENFJ would be perfectly at home with this console simply because they're natural-born leaders. Truly charismatic, an ENFJ is probably known for having a large circle of friends, many of which they'd enjoy gaming with.

Whether it's Super Mario or Donkey Kong, there will never be a dull moment. After all, ENFJs are also known as the 'Protagonists,' so it's only fitting that they take the role of the game leader.
