With a new decade comes new opportunities. With brand new consoles such as Xbox Series X and PS5 expected to make their long-awaited debut this Winter, the next generation will usher in new ideas and innovations developers can take advantage of with updated graphics, textures, gameplay elements, and more.

The ideas that developers and publishers hope to bring to the table are new IPs, remasters, remakes, or perhaps a long await sequel to a game franchise. Unlike Call of Duty, which releases a new game every year, we are taking a look at 10 unannounced titles that hopefully will see the light of day within the next ten years.

10 Skate 4

The first Skate debuted in 2007 and has produced several sequels in its wake. In the past, the Tony Hawk: Pro Skater series was dominating the virtual skate parks, where players could ride, shred, and perform tricks to their hearts' desires. However, over time Hawk games diminished in the eyes of critics, with each new game being as worst as the last.

Luckily, Skate came out of nowhere to keep the genre alive and well for video game skateboard fans everywhere. Boasting a simple yet hard to master stick trick motion controls and open-world exploration, the first game and its sequels created something remarkable, allowing for freedom of creativity, realism, and expressionism. There is no word of a Skate 4 as of yet, which only heightens the desire for a sequel even more.

9 Bully 2

One of the many popular properties that Rockstar Games holds in its possession, Bully is overshadowed by the company's two giants: Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption. We would love to go back for another semester at Bullworth Academy and save the nerds, kiss the girls, and lay a smackdown on some bullies while attending our classroom curriculums.

There have been rumors for years on this action-adventure game's return, from concept art leaks to potential in-game hints, but most have been debunked or dismissed by Rockstar. Only time will tell if Jimmy Hopkins and the gang will return to school this decade.

8 Fable 4

More tales from Albion are hopefully awaiting players this decade. Fable is a standout property from Microsoft that offers a duality enriched story, endearing characters, engrossing gameplay, and adorable doggie companions. Venturing into pure imagination and folklore like a fairy tale book, many gamers fell in love with the world of Albion, as they rose from a hood stricken orphan to the most powerful king in the lands.

The Fable trilogy holds up well, but subpar spin-offs and creative misdirections lead to Lionhead Studios closing its studio doors in 2016. While depressing, the wait for a sequel might not be too long as Forza's Playground Studios will be developing the next entry. And at last, we will wait for a reveal and release date, so we know when we will jump back into Albion once again.

7 Left 4 Dead 3

Left 4 Dead 2 main characters and their assorted weapons - including a devastating chainsaw

Before The Walking Dead was popularizing the zombie genre on television, many gamers were familiar with Left 4 Dead as their go-to outbreak fix. The game was a frantic delight of weapon mayhem, fast-paced zombies, and lovable character, with many of its gameplay elements having yet to be properly replicated in other games.

Allowing for four-player co-op and strategic teamwork to complete tasks and objectives while fending off hoards of zombies, Left 4 Dead has some truly nightmare-inducing monsters like The Boomer, The Smoker, The Tank, and the always crying but always deadly Witch. There are rumors of a third game in this infectious series, but Valve has so far denied it.

6 Dead Space 4

Dead Space was an awesome take on the horror genre, allowing players to take a glimpse of a future of terrorizing creature anomalies and atmospheric sense of danger lurking around every corner. The only ways of survival are the handful of weapons at Isaac Clarke's disposal and the player's wits.

The series has garnered a decent fan base, with the three games and two animation movies that explored the lore and events of Issac Clarke and the sadistic cult religion of Unitology. There hasn't been much talk of a fourth installment since developer Visceral Games was disbanded in October 2017.

5 Bioshock 4

"Would You Kindly?" The same words have been repeatedly asked of 2K Games when it comes to making a fourth game in the critically acclaimed Bioshock series. The first game broke new bounds in terms of storytelling, atmospheric dystopian setting, monstrous and diverse enemies, and versatile gameplay. The Bioshock series has also some of the best antagonists to ever grace gaming, from Andrew Ryan to Henry Comstock.

The developer behind the historic franchise, Irrational Studios, has shut down, along with Ken Levine moving on from his masterpiece. However, 2K is hoping to rebuild the franchise and develop a follow-up game with the help of the new Cloud Chamber Studios that will be helming the project for a few years down the road. Whether it is deep waters of Rapture, the cloudy skies of Columbia, or elsewhere, we will welcome it with open arms.

4 Portal 3

Valve really loves stopping at two. Another franchise by the company that is stricken with the two-game sequel bug is Portal. Portal was a standout game introduced in The Orange Box, which also included Team Fortress 2 and Half-Life 2. Portal shook up the platform genre with its complex and satisfying to solve obstacles, inventive gameplay, and adoring yet sinister villain, GLaDOS.

The sequel followed the same dynamic puzzle-solving formula with new concepts like repulsion gel, story-driven plot, and co-op play. At the moment, there has been no word on the third installment of this witty and engrossing platformer from the labs of Aperture Science.

3 The Witcher 4

CD Projekt Red's masterpiece trilogy holds up as one of the greatest franchises of all time. For many fans and critics alike, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is the best game of the last decade, one that offers engrossing exploration, excellently crafted missions, phenomenal RPG gameplay, and a massive and detailed world.

Netflix adaptation of The Witcher series also revitalized interest in the game franchise. After the release of CD Projekt Red's latest ambitious project, Cyberpunk 2077, a new entry in The Witcher will be probably on the cards.

2 Grand Theft Auto VI

Of course, this list would not be complete without Grand Theft Auto. Rockstar's record-breaking phenomenon is sure to break the internet once more when the sixth entry is announced. So many tales of car chases through the alleyways of Liberty City, riding the waves of Vice City, and robbing from the finest jewelry stores of Los Santos, are forever ingrained in gaming history.

The next zany adventure of crime, betrayal, and money spending will be exposed to in the next installment. Rumors speak about a more Narcos inspired driven story, possibly signaling a return to Vice City. Only time will tell as new details emerge and curious questions are answered about the state of the game after the departure of Rockstar Games Head, Dan Houser.

1 Half-Life 3

If Grand Theft Auto is the host of the party, Half-Life is definitely the elephant in the room. For more than a whole decade, gamers have been asking for a third game in the beloved FPS shooter from Valve. The first and second Half-Life broke many barriers through adaptive and creative gameplay, while also telling a fascinating story with great set pieces.

There is still hope for a third installment now that Half-Life: Alyx has been released to an aggregate score of 92 on Metacritic. Many outlets have praised it as "the best VR game" on the market today, similar to the praise of the first Half-Life game and its sequel. It's not a question of whether Valve should finish the Half-Life series, but a statement that Valve NEEDS to finish the Half-Life series.
