A bit over two months ago, popular gaming magazine Game Informer had been struck by layoffs as a result of GameStop's fiscal fight to stay afloat. Several senior writers had been terminated from their positions, including regulars on the Game Informer Show podcast. It appears some of these writers have reemerged, as four of them have formed a new game entertainment brand known as MinnMax.

Game Informer has long been one of the gaming industry's most prominent journalistic outlets and has gained many readers in the process. That's why it was such a shock to hear of the casualties suffered by GameStop's financial problems.

Game Informer's video editor Ben Hanson posted to Twitter an announcement of the service's launch.

Expressing his sadness at leaving Game Informer after 9 years and excitement for launching MinnMax, Hanson shared a link in the tweet to a Patreon page for MinnMax.

In an update on MinnMax's launch on Patreon, Hanson gave his thanks to the supporters of MinnMax on Patreon, saying that "it is overwhelming in every sense of the word."

"This is so special," he writes. According to Hanson, The MinnMax Show podcast has been submitted to iTunes and Google Play and is now awaiting approval.

There are six different membership levels available to those who seek to support MinnMax. The first level is to $2 per month, which will allow supporters to submit questions and comments to the MinnMax Show, as well as contribute to game clubs and have access to MinnMax's "exclusive Discord." The next level is $5 a month, which offers additional exclusive content. The following levels are $20 a month, $100 a month, $400 a month, and $500 a month. The final level allows subscribers to play an "agreed upon online game for an hour."

Many Game Informer supporters will be very happy to hear about the former staff's reemergence. The writers who formed MinnMax, including Ben Hanson, Kyle Hilliard, Suriel Vasquez, and Jeff Marchiafava, were very well-liked by readers of the magazine and viewers of the Game Informer Show. As such, it will be interesting to see the direction that MinnMax takes regarding content and what services MinnMax may offer in the future.
