Video game sequels usually only happen when a game is successful. Sequels often improve on existing games, adding elements of their own. But what about the games that never got the sequel they deserved? It seems like whenever a hit game doesn't receive a sequel, there is an outcry in the community asking to make one. It's up to game developers to listen to their fanbase; the better ones do.

Chances are, you've played at least one of these games and are waiting for a sequel. Due to licensing issues, making a sequel can be complicated, but we can still hope regardless. These are 10 video game sequels we're still waiting for.

10 10. Banjo-Threeie

The ending of Banjo-Tooie alluded to the development of Banjo-Threeie. In the final scene where Banjo-Kazooie and friends are playing soccer with Grunty's decapitated head, she exclaims, "You'll be sorry. All of you! Just you wait until Banjo-Threeie..." So there you have it. The developers of Rare lied to us in one of their most impactful games. For many of us, we are still idly waiting for what may never release. Instead of Banjo-Tooie, we received Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts, which was okay but not the game we asked for.

9 9. Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic 3

It shouldn't be a difficult decision to make the sequel to one of the best games of all time. Mass Effect would never have existed if it weren't for Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic's achievements in role-playing.

Now that BioWare is part of Electronic Arts, fans may never get the sequel they deserve. Judging by how Mass Effect: Andromeda turned out, Electronic Arts might not be ready to take on this sequel. For now, we have Star Wars: The Old Republic, an MMORPG that is set after the first two KOTOR games. For now, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 3 will remain a pie in the sky.

8 8. BioShock 4

Given the success of 2K Games' BioShock trilogy, it makes sense to develop a sequel. Without a doubt, most of the people who played BioShock are looking forward to BioShock's next game. A sequel's story could follow the events of BioShock Infinite or be a prequel to the trilogy. BioShock 4, if made by 2K Games, would be a huge hit. As requested by players, BioShock 4 would attract more players by being set underwater. BioShock Infinite was not nearly as well-received from the gaming community. BioShock is one of the few respectable games that is set underwater.

7 7. Diablo 4

BlizzCon is not until November 2019, so there's plenty of time until Diablo 4 could be announced. By no means is Diablo 3 a bad game. Diablo 3 did, however, take away elements from Diablo 2 that shouldn't have been removed. For example, the loot-collecting system in Diablo 3 is too linear. In Diablo 2, players would have to visit specific enemies in the game to collect certain items. This encourages players to explore each Act thoroughly instead of doing nothing but Rift runs. Rifts are efficient for finding loot but can be boring.

6 6. Tony Hawk Pro Skater 6/ Skate 4

Activision's Tony Hawk's Pro Skater and Electronic Art's Skate are two skateboarding franchises that have provided endless hours of enjoyment. The launch of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 was a complete failure. The developers tried to keep the same old formula with updated graphics, but the controls felt stiff, and the game would end combo chains abruptly.

On the other hand, EA's Skate has yet to release a bad title. Aside from Skate and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5, there aren't many good skateboarding games in the market. Give fans the skateboarding game they deserve. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 or EA's Skate 4 has to happen or it might be a while before we get a good skateboarding game.

5 5. Diddy Kong Racing 2

We remember and love Diddy Kong Racing for being a less forgiving kart-racer compared to Mario Kart. While Mario Kart uses a catch-up system that gifts losing players speed boosting items, Diddy Kong Racing players win races purely on racing prowess with little luck involved.

With an Adventure Mode, players got a ton of content including boss battles, hidden items, and a few fun mini-games that could be played through local multiplayer. On another note, using the Unreal Engine, someone developed part of Diddy Kong Racing's Adventure Mode. The end product was not that fun, but it gives a sense of what Diddy Kong Racing 2 could look like.

4 4. Portal 3

It's the sequel that Portal fans deserve. Portal and Portal 2 are two of Valve Corporation's biggest games. The first two Portal games received overwhelmingly positive reviews from critics. A third game to finish off the trilogy would be too awesome.

While games like The Witness make almost impossible puzzles, Portal could appeal to most people. Solving puzzles while a small story develops into a big one is why we love Portal in the first place. Valve Corporation is responsible for the creation of a few of the best games ever made. Games like Half-Life 2, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, and Dota 2 have mega-popularity today.

3 3. Spore 2

Spore received mixed reviews from critics and players. In Spore, players controlled and grew as an organism until reaching full size. Starting as a microscopic bacteria, players have to consume and complete tasks to develop. The game was quite short, but it seemed like the concept had the potential to grow to something bigger in scale. It would be nice to see a Spore sequel come to fruition, but with an improved premise.  The original Spore could have hit the mark but was just short.

2 2. Minecraft 2

It's worth noting that Mojang is now owned by Microsoft. It didn't take a huge budget to make the original version of Minecraft. A new Minecraft game with improved graphics, more building options, and places to explore like the Netherworld could work in a second Minecraft.

Sure, fighting the Ender Dragon is fun, but for some people, the fun stops there. Please make a new Minecraft with improved textures, frame rate, and locations Mojang and Microsoft. And no, we don't mean a Telltale Game like Minecraft: Story Mode.

1 1. Conker’s Bad Fur Day 2: Other Bad Day

As a character whose first appearance was in Diddy Kong Racing, it was a big turnaround to change Conker into the rude, greedy, foul mouth that he became in Conker's Bad Fur Day. At one time, Rare was working on the project for a Conker's Bad Fur Day sequel. The game was titled "Conker’s Bad Fur Day 2: Other Bad Day," and it was almost released until Microsoft bought development company Rare.

Instead of giving fans the sequel they craved for, Rare remade the first Conker's Bad Fur Day and called it Conker: Live and Reloaded. We love Rare for making games like Sea of Thieves, but hopefully, they can figure out what gamers really like.
