There's nothing worse than loving a game and then having little to do with it after you've cleared most of its content. All things must come to an end, but it's nice to revisit parts of the game that remain constant. These different minigames grant you a variety of rewards, and some of these have difficulties settings that you can adjust. If you're trying your hand out at Batting Cage, you wouldn't want to go on a day that has god-level difficulty. If you're looking to get smarter, the crossword puzzles minigame can give you a Knowledge point.

So they're not just a way for you to unwind, but also a good way of increasing your social stats as well as earning other prizes that can level up your character. For a game that has a lot of focus on its plot and environment, the minigames are purposeful, and they definitely don't disappoint.

9 Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut

Whether you love or hate the minigames in the Sonic series, Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut has 12 minigames that are memorable and fun for anybody who's played them. If only we could say the same about that notoriously frustrating pinball minigame in Sonic Frontiers.

Sonic Drift was a fun alternative to Mario Kart after all, and Sonic the Hedgehog (8-Bit) was a blast to play with as a side-scrolling game. The incentive for playing these minigames is the fun and nostalgia you get from them, especially if you're an avid Sonic follower.

You can unlock Final Fantasy 10-2's 14 minigames by going through the story or through missions, and they can literally mean monkey business (playing as a monkey matchmaker, or even feeding a monkey different fruits while it's up in the air), or going on third-person shooter mode in Besaid Village.

You can even gamble and try your luck at a slot machine through Sky Slots, or bet on a Lupine at a race with Lupine Dash. Compared to other games here, some of these games are triggered by going through the story and are must-dos in order for you to clear them.

It's always nice to have more sources of power and in-game currency, and there are 16 minigames in Legend of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild that you can choose from to obtain various rewards. A deer hunting game gives you different colors of rupees depending on the amount of deer you're able to score.

If you're averse to hunting animals, a game of golf wouldn't hurt anybody's conscience. If golf is too tame for you, there's also a minigame where you're rewarded for paragliding as far as you can for research purposes.

6 Grand Theft Auto 5

But wait, isn't Grand Theft Auto 5 just a big minigame? Despite living a mostly lawless life and being able to openly play the way you want to play the game, there are actually 17 minigames in GTA 5. Some of them aren't really games, but past-times in the game that you can do for living the semblance of a normal life.

There are minigames like triathlons that can give you a wardrobe prize after winning them, which doesn't really do much for you as a character but is a minigame you might want to do just to kill time or to get an achievement.

Lost Judgment also boasts a plentiful amount of minigames, totaling a whopping 21 minigames without any DLC. Despite not having the iconic karaoke minigame that Yakuza series fans have come to know and love, Lost Judgment shines on its own when it featured classic arcade games made by Sega.

The best part about playing these arcade games isn't the fact that it takes your mind off of the crimes you have to solve, as well as the convenience of being able to play them in your own office. But if you reject modernity and embrace tradition, mahjong, golf, and other minigames still exist in this game.

4 Shenmue

There are 28 minigames in total from the Shenmue series, all of which are extremely amusing, and distracting enough if you want to stall yourself from playing the main storyline. The minigames in this series have range: you can have fun at the turtle and frog races, or get violent and go for a street fight and double your money (unless you're in Shenmue 3, then it's just fist-fighting for fun).

You'll also enjoy the classic minigames that will make you feel like you're back in a '90s style arcade, where violence is subjective based on your competitiveness.

3 Yakuza 5

Yakuza 5 has 29 minigames in total, including all of its casino games. It's safe to say that you'll never run out of fun things to do, whether it involves betting away and trying your luck at the casino, or battling your way in air hockey.

You can even go for Tatsuya Noodles, where Kiryu helps out behind the counter at a ramen shop by cooking noodles to a certain firmness. You have to laugh at the entertaining nature of the Yakuza minigames at times, especially if it involves Kiryu violently serving ramen noodles and singing the infamous meme.

2 Kingdom Hearts 2

If you think that other games had a lot of minigames, Kingdom Hearts 2 puts everything else to shame with 45 minigames in total.

From skateboarding, mail delivery, and even fighting all the way through for a three-headed cup that's named after a certain hound from hell, Kingdom Hearts 2 has a lot of minigames to choose from if you want to kill time from the main plot.

But what if all there is to the game are a collection of minigames you can enjoy with family and friends? Mario Party (1998) has 50 minigames in its roster, which you play with others or NPCs.

Times were simpler when people thought turning board games into video games would be a cool idea to do. There are now versions of the game on Switch that you can play with friends if you just want to play feel-good games that have characters you grew up with.
