10 Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance

Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengence is the sixth main title in the Disgaea series and is available on the Switch, The PS4 and on PC through Steam. Players follow a group of Overlords of the Netherworlds who band together to rise up against the demon emperor Void Dark, who has wronged them each individually. Just like the previous games in the series, Disgaea 5 is a tactical RPG, though it includes several different game features new to the series. For one there is a new special attack type called "Maougis" where certain characters pair together to unleash special moves.

9 LEGO Marvel Superheroes

Family-friendly but challenging enough to entertain all ages, LEGO Marvel Superheroes combines action-adventure with puzzle-solving. There are 180 different characters from the Marvel Universe for players to take control of, with each one bringing their own unique abilities to the table. The late Stan Lee is featured in the game via missions called Stan Lee in Peril - and he's also a playable character that possesses several abilities from other characters, including the ability to transform into a Hulk-esque version of himself. Like every game in the LEGO franchise, this game is built to support two-player couch co-op.

8 Castle Crashers

Castle Crashers is a side-scrolling game that combines elements of RPGs and beat-em-ups together. Before setting off on their adventure, the player must choose a map to explore and a character to play. Each character has their own unique abilities and taking on arena challenges allows players to unlock more characters. Throughout the game, finding chests and defeating enemies gives coins that can be spent in shops in order to buy items and weapons. Castle Crashers also gives the opportunity to bring along three other players for a 4-person cooperative experience.

7 Magicka 2

Magicka 2 is the action-adventure sequel to the 2011 Magicka. It's a co-op game where up to four players can take the role of a wizard to rid the world of Midgard of evil. Players have to battle against other wizards, who have gone mad and hostile after the Wizard Wars. Players use spells, combining them together to create powerful attacks or helpful moves to aid their friends. But it's best to tread carefully, players can hurt and even kill their allies as friendly fire is on, making for some pretty hilarious situations.

6 Lord Of The Rings: War In The North

The Lord of the Rings: War in the North is a hack and slash action RPG based on the Lord of the Rings book and film trilogy. Modeled more after the movie, players have a party of three characters, an elf, a ranger and dwarf. They can control one of these three and switch control at the end of each level. The story in the game is parallel to the main story of the book and movies, and the player even runs into some of the LotR characters, at times.

The future has been torn asunder by multiple dimensions colliding in Marvel Future Fight. The director of S.H.I.E.L.D. has sent out a dire message to the past, asking for the most powerful superheroes (and villains) in the Marvel universe to team up and help him save their timeline from certain doom. This dynamic mobile game features numerous fan-favorite characters from all kinds of Marvel franchises, including Guardians of the Galaxy and The Avengers. If that's not enough, story mode offers players the chance to play through an all-new story that sprawls across the entire Marvel Multiverse!

4 Lara Croft And The Temple Of Osiris

Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris is the second installment of a spinoff series. In Egypt, Lara teams up with a rival treasure hunter, to prevent a powerful Egyptian deity from enslaving humanity. Along with the help of two imprisoned gods, they have to collect all of the fragments of Osiris in order to defeat him. The game has non-linear gameplay and a fixed camera angle, inspired by arcade-style action games. Four players can join together on a mission by taking control of one of the four different characters, each having unique abilities and items to use.

3 Diablo III

Diablo is a popular franchise of dungeon crawler, hack-and-slash RPGs. The third installment in the franchise, Diablo III, has been ported to several platforms since its initial release 2012, with the most recent release being for the Nintendo Switch in 2018. Players can choose between a number of different classes for their character, each of which has their own advantages and disadvantages. Throughout the game, players will build their character to their own taste from the ground up, and at level ten have the option to create a "Hardmode" character. In Hardmode, characters who die cannot be resurrected.

2 X-Men Legends 2

X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse came out in 2005. In it, the X-Men and the Brotherhood of Mutants must join together and fight against Apocalypse. It's an action RPG that allows for co-op play up to four players. As players progress through the game, they level up their characters by gaining experience points which unlock more mutant superpowers and unique abilities. Players can create combos by having two characters attack an enemy target at the same time, or create Super Combos by using their special abilities at the same time.

1 Gauntlet: Slayers Edition

Gauntlet: Slayer Edition is a dungeon crawler that throws the player into the heart of an intense battle against an endless onslaught of enemies. The worthy will lay claim to bountiful treasures, not to mention bragging rights. The game is available on two different platforms, as it was released on Steam in 2014 and made available on the PlayStation 4 in 2015. Single-player is an option, of course, but the game seems to be tailored towards a 4-player co-op experience, whether it's done locally or online. Those who loved the team-building aspect of MUA 3 will probably love this.
