Rare is a British game developer that's always been a bit cheeky, and at the end of Banjo- Kazooie's demo on Xbox 360, it gives you a game over if you don't buy the game.

The short demo cuts you off when you collect 3 Jiggys, the main collectibles in the 3D platformer. Gruntilda, the villain of the game then barks at you and says that the free trial is over and tells you that this is where you're staying. She then tells you to buy Banjo-Kazooie to carry on playing. After her spiel, she provides you an option to unlock the full game by pressing X or you can give up by pressing A.

When you press A, Gruntilda cackles, and the game fades out in a similar fashion to when Banjo & Kazooie lose a life. When the game reappears, the player finds themselves back at Gruntilda's lair, where the witch is taking Tooty's life force. She is using a contraption to steal Tooty's youth so she can be the most beautiful. Gruntilda says that Banjo's game ends in her tower and tells her henchman to pull the lever.

Grunty weirdly emerges with a model-like body and calls herself a beauty; her face is still kinda creepy though. Tooty comes out of the machine as a big monster and says, "Your sister wants a word with you. Now!" Tooty put so much faith in you & Banjo, and now she seems very mad!

It's funny how Rare and Microsoft scold you for not buying the game, and it perfectly shows the humor that Banjo-Kazooie is going for. This cheeky joke that very few would notice from the Xbox 360 version makes the game so much more appealing to someone who has never played the Banjo series before.

While it's preposterous we haven't had a new Banjo game since Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts in 2008, the series is still in the hearts and minds of gamers around the world. The bear and bird made their grand return in the limelight with their entry into Super Smash Bros. Ultimateand fans have since clamored for a sequel from Microsoft. Unfortunately, Rare is currently working on Everwild, which, granted, does look like a beautiful open-world title.

If Microsoft does return to the Banjo-Kazooie universe with a proper sequel, it would make a big splash for the Xbox Series X. Let's keep hoping for a Banjo Threeie
