The remake of Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town will update the game in more than just the technical sense.
According to Twitter user Lulu Chiba, the Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town remake will feature the ability to marry another person of the same sex. This was demonstrated by an image posted by the Twitter account.
As can be seen above, two people of the same sex can marry inside a church in both the current Japanese version of the remake, as well as all other versions come their eventual release.
The remake for Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town had been announced a while back, along with the remake Harvest Moon: More Friends of Mineral Town. Additionally, the game will be released in North America under the name Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town.
Considered one of the best games of the Harvest Moon series, it was an intelligent move to go ahead and enhance the Friends of Mineral Town games for a new generation.
As for all else Harvest Moon, most recently, Harvest Moon: Mad Dash was released for PS4 and Nintendo Switch in the Fall. A mini-game type of Harvest Moon release with modern visuals, the game was developed by APPCI and published by Natsume. Also available on Steam, the game is multiplayer-centric and is far more fast-paced than the Harvest Moon titles that came before it. You can currently purchase the game for $19.99 USD on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC.
Harvest Moon: Mad Dash was also very recently released on mobile devices, including iOS and Android devices. It is currently available for $4.99 USD.
In our review of Harvest Moon: Mad Dash, we said that the game falls somewhat short in its difference from its predecessors. However, Harvest Moon: Mad Dash becomes fairly easy to pick up and play over time and nonetheless adheres to the familiar Harvest Moon presentation.
No worldwide release date is currently set in stone for the Friends of Mineral Town remakes, though it may be reasonable to expect a 2020 release. Whenever it comes, it will thankfully be part of a gaming movement that sees the hobby move in an increasingly inclusive direction.
