Gen.G are planning to sign Hansel “BnTeT” Ferdinand as their permanent fifth CS:GO player, as per a report from DBLTAP. Gen.G began their first venture into Counter-Strike with the signing of Cloud9’s core three players and 17-year-old Sam “s0m” Oh earlier this month. BnTeT has been playing for TyLoo since 2017, and is widely considered to be one of the best players in the Asian region.

Hansel “BnTeT” Ferdinand signed with Chinese esports organization TyLoo in 2017. Following his addition, TyLoo qualified for ESL One Cologne 2017 and the Eleague Boston Major’s Main Qualifier. The team had to withdraw from the Major due to visa issues. TyLoo continued to qualify for top-tier events, including IEM Katowice 2018, DreamHack Masters Marseille, and IEM Sydney 2018. The team finished second at IEM Shanghai 2018. They reached levels that past Asian teams had not, including competing in the group stage of the FACEIT London Major and breaking into the top ten of the world rankings.

BnTeT was an integral part of TyLoo’s success, as he acted as their in-game leader for a large portion of that time. While communicating in English, Chinese, and Indonesian due to language differences, BnTeT often led the team statistically, as well. He maintained a 1.13 LAN rating in 2018, and improved with a 1.17 LAN rating in 2019.

Now in the process of building their first ever CS:GO team, Korean esports organization Gen.G have signed a majority North American squad. The roster is headlined by former Cloud9 star Timothy “autimatic” Ta, who joined the team along with ex-Cloud9 teammates Damian “daps” Steele and Kenneth “koosta” Suen. The organization announced their signing of former Envy player Sam “s0m” Oh earlier this week. Without a permanent fifth player, Gen.G fielded former Complexity rifler Hunter “SicK” Mims in the IEM Katowice 2020 open qualifiers. They were eliminated in the round of sixteen by a mixed team featuring former Ghost Gaming AWPer Matthew “WARDELL” Yu.

BnTeT’s addition would complete the Gen.G CS:GO roster. Should this move go through, he will be one of the first players from the Asian region to make a move to North America, or any other region. It is unclear when this move will be announced, though BnTeT is expected to compete with TyLoo in the WESG China Regional Finals later this week.
