Gen.G took down Cloud9 in the VALORANT Pulse Invitational this past weekend, sweeping them in the finals 2-0. The tournament was one of the biggest in North America since the game's official launch a little over a month ago.

The tournament featured some of the top tier organizations in North America, including Immortals, Team SoloMid, Sentinels, Gen.G and Cloud9. Notable orgless teams who also competed include Orbit, Code7, Charlotte Phoenix, Triumph, Echo 8 and Together We Are Terrific.

In a hard fought series, Gen.G ended up getting the better of Cloud9, thanks to Anthony "gMd" Guimond having a tournament to remember. The 19-year-old nabbed 178 kills in the tournament, second only to Cloud9's Tyson "TenZ" Ngo.

Although it was gMd garnering all the attention, every member on Gen.G carried their own weight. Loic "effys" Sauvageau doubled the amount of assists of any other player in the tournament while playing Omen and Sage. Danny "huynh" Huynh's Operator play stood with the likes of TenZ and Team SoloMid's Matthew "Wardell" Yu.

This win marks Gen.G's second notable tournament victory, the first being the T1 x Nerd Street Gamers Invitational which took place back in May, during the VALORANT beta. Before winning the Pulse Invitational, Gen.G faltered somewhat against top tier competition, struggling to find victories when it mattered. However, with this win, Gen.G firmly plant themselves back on top of North American VALORANT.

Gen.G's next notable tournament will be the PAX Arena Invitational, which is set to start July 22nd. Although not all the teams have been announced yet, the tournament will include T1, Prospects, Echo 8 and Tyler "Ninja" Blevins on 100 Blifited along with Gen.G. The Pax Arena Invitational will be the 2nd North American Tournament to be a part of the Ignition Series.

With the game being out for only a little more than a month, the esports scene in VALORANT is still incredibly young. But with Gen.G's success they have found so far, many will look to them as one of the top organizations in North America.
