The next round of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Mii Fighter Costumes have been revealed, and they include Geno, along with the three big party members from Final Fantasy 7.
Character reveals in Super Smash Bros. are an event. From Joker to now Sephiroth, the internet is always taken aback when a new fighter is confirmed. Typically not quite as exciting is the reveal of new Mii Fighter Costumes. On one hand, it is neat to customize the Miis with garb from your favorite characters. But, a Mii Fighter Costume reveal also likely squashes any hope of the real character making it in. Still, it's better than nothing. Plus, a few of the Costumes in Ultimate are of exceptional quality. When Sans was revealed, people were in shock, and it even came with the iconic "Megalovania" theme. Then we had Cuphead, and even the Vault Boy from Fallout. Although not the real deals, the detail on these Costumes gives a genuine illusion of playing these characters.
Next week, some new Mii Fighter Costumes will be available for purchase. During Masahiro Sakurai's Sephiroth presentation today, Nintendo revealed the latest Mii Fighter Costumes. One of the Costumes is Geno from Super Mario RPG. The outfit appears identical to his Costume from Super Smash Bros. for 3DS/Wii U. Included for the first time in Smash Bros. are Costumes for Tifa, Aerith, and Barret. There's also a Chocobo hat. Check out the Miis in action below.
The costumes will be released on December 22, the same day Sephiroth is available for purchase. (The villain is available now if you complete a special challenge.) Like always, the costumes are $.75 each. There are certainly some creative picture possibilities now that the Final Fantasy 7 gang is arriving.
Meanwhile, it was definitely disappointing for a lot of us when the Super Mario RPG logo popped up. It's surprising the Geno Costume wasn't at least given the deluxe treatment like with Sans and Cuphead. Many would have been happy with a fully molded Geno Mii that includes the iconic "Beware the Forest's Mushrooms" theme. Alas, it looks like the legendary Star Road Warrior will once again have to wait for the next Smash Bros.
