Kamisato Ayato (not to be confused with his sister Kamisato Ayaka) is the leader of his clan in Genshin Impact. This five-star swordsman adds serious Hydro offense to the Traveler's party, assuming you're able to recruit him during his limited Azure Excursion Wish Events.
If you're one of the players lucky enough to have Ayato on your team, it will be important to Ascend him as quickly as possible so that he can fight at the same level as your longtime companions. Use this guide to efficiently find Ayato's Ascension Materials and bring him up to speed.

The materials required for each Ascension Phase must be gathered independently of the other phases. For example, to go from Phase 1 to Phase 2, you'll need to gather 10 Sakura Blooms - the three you used to go from Phase 0 to Phase 1 are not counted toward that total.
Where To Find Ayato's Ascension Materials
Whether you've already recruited Ayato or are hoping to get him the next time he's available, you should start grinding for his Ascension Materials right away so that you're ready when the time comes.
Sakura Blooms
Sakura Blooms can only be found on Narukami Island in Inazuma. You'll see them floating on the wind as you explore, but you can't collect them until they're charged with Electro. Hit the floating petals with an Electro attack or run by them while you're under Electro status, and they'll clump together into a harvestable item. Be sure to have an Electro character - and maybe an Electrograna - whenever you're visiting Narukami to make sure you can collect as many blooms as possible.
The largest concentrations of Sakura Blooms can be found near the Grand Narukami Shrine, particularly around the back of the building and in the hills just to the east and south. There are also clusters just north of Inazuma City, including three just outside the gate.
Handguards
Handguards can be looted from defeated ronin bandits around Inazuma - both Nobushi and Kairagi enemies carry them. Once you've gathered several, you can combine lower-tier Handguards using Alchemy to create higher-tier Handguards.

Dew Of Repudiation
There is only one way to collect Dew Of Repudiation, and that is by defeating the Hydro Hypostasis at Suigetsu Pool. As you might expect, the boss deals significant Hydro damage with a focus on area attacks, so be sure to bring a team that can resist Hydro damage and deal with multiple injuries at once. Being made of water, the Hydro Hypostasis is immune to Hydro damage itself.
As with all bosses, be sure to have at least 40 Original Resin stocked when you fight the Hydro Hypostasis so that you can claim its loot once it's defeated.
Sangonomiya Kokomi also uses Dew Of Repudiation as an Ascension Material. If you're fortunate enough to have recruited both Kokomi and Ayato, pick one to Ascend and focus on them - grinding for Dew takes long enough without having to split the valuable rewards between two characters.
Varunada Lazurite
Varunada Lazurite is used to Ascend all Hydro characters. As with all Ascension stones, it's decently common but getting the higher-tier versions can take some work. You can earn Varunada Lazurite by completing Commissions, and you can purchase small amounts of Slivers every restock cycle from Marjorie in Mondstadt and Xingxi in Liyue Harbor. Smaller pieces of Varunada Lazurite can be combined using Alchemy to form larger pieces as well.
The Hydro Hypostasis drops Varunada Lazurite based on the current World Level, so repeatedly battling it will earn you two different Ascension Materials for Ayato at once. You can also loot Varunada Lazurite from the Primo Geovishap in Minlin and from Rhodeia of Loch in Bishui Plain.
