Genshin Impact's 2.0 update brought huge changes to the game, complete with a whole new region for players to explore, a new set of world quests, and much more. As players explore the new island region of Inazuma and get to know the Electro Archon, they'll meet a whole new cast of characters relevant to this arc of Genshin Impact's story.

One of the most eagerly anticipated characters from the Inazuma cast is Ayaka. Rumoured and talked about since Genshin Impact's launch, Ayaka is finally in the game and was available on a special banner. She's a cryo sword user and fights with great speed, making her fun and exciting to use. You might be wondering which characters Ayaka works best with, so that you can build the ideal team and conquer Genshin's many challenging stages. Here are the best teammates that you can add to your party to complement Ayaka.

8 Mona

Genshin Impact's Mona

You might have Mona in your Genshin Impact game since she's one of the permanent five-star characters, meaning she's available on both the special banners and the permanent banner. This makes her easier to get than other characters like Childe, and makes her a more viable choice for an Ayaka team composition.

Mona's hydro skills let her spread hydro effects quickly and easily, letting you use her as a good sub-DPS for your team. By spreading hydro on all nearby enemies, you can bring out Ayaka and work quickly to freeze enemies and deal massive damage.

7 Xingqiu

Xinggiu Sword Stance

Xingqiu is considered one of the most powerful characters in Genshin Impact, and it's even easier to get him and build him because he's a four-star character. In fact, if you have him, he's a better option to use than Mona.

This is because Xingqiu's Guhua sword skills let you set up hydro for future elemental reactions. His raincutter swords complement Ayaka's freezing abilities very well, making him an excellent choice for your team.

6 Diona

Diona using shield

Diona is a great healer to have on your team. Not only does she provide healing, she also offers shields for your characters, letting you go all out with your DPS characters. She's another four-star character, making her a good option for your team since you might already have her.

Besides her shield and healing abilities, Diona can also help you rack up Elemental Energy quickly. That will let you expend Ayaka's Elemental Burst more often, as Ayaka's abilities require a lot of energy to recharge.

5 Qiqi

Qiqi from Genshin Impact plays with her hat.

If you somehow don't have Diona, that's okay. Perhaps your luck has reversed itself and you happen to have the five-star cryo user Qiqi instead. Qiqi isn't as good an option as Diona is, but she does the job if you need someone on your team as a healer.

Qiqi can help keep your HP topped up while also providing elemental resonance that you gain by having two cryo members on the same team. While she won't help much with gaining elemental particles, she can at least provide healing and resonance.

4 Kazuha

Kazuha after a battle

Kazuha is one of the best anemo characters you can have in your Ayaka based party. However, he might be hard to acquire especially if you're a free to play Genshin Impact fan, since his banner was right before Akaya's. However, if you do have him, be sure to bring him along.

Kazuha's skills allow him to be an excellent sub-DPS. He has a great crowd controlling anemo skill that causes swirl reactions, and on top of that, his elemental passive lets you buff your entire party's elemental damage, which is invaluable for your entire team.

3 Venti

Venti from Genshin Impact readies his bow for an attack

Lots of Genshin Impact players love Venti, and for good reason: he's been one of the strongest characters ever since the game first launched. Besides boasting great exploration skills, Venti deals out considerable damage while also having a very useful Elemental Burst skill.

Venti's elemental burst traps opponents in a spinning vortex, amplifying elemental damage thanks to anemo, causing swirl. However, he might not be viable for your team since he's a five star character.

2 Sucrose

Sucrose from Genshin Impact looking surprised

Sucrose is a great replacement for Venti, and she has the potential to even be better than him in a team with Ayaka. Sucrose is a four star character, so it's easier to build her. Plus, her Elemental Burst is even better than Venti's for a team with Ayaka.

While Venti's skill tosses enemies into the air while dealing swirl damage, Sucrose's skill causes a vortex on the ground, making it easier for Ayaka to reach enemies while they're being attacked by the swirl.

1 Zhongli

Zhongli in genshin impact

Zhongli is a great character for many team compositions. His geo skills deal continuous AoE damage and his Elemental Burst skill petrifies all enemies in an area, providing you with a precious few seconds to heal, attack, or do whatever else you need to maintain the advantage in battle.

One of Zhongli's greatest abilities is his Elemental Skill shield, which makes him ideal for Ayaka. The shield prevents characters from being interrupted during their attacks and makes them invulnerable to taking damage for as long as the shield lasts. You can build Zhongli to be a great sub-DPS and use him primarily for his shield, supporting your DPS characters such as Ayaka.
