Jean is one of the most popular characters in Genshin Impact, and frankly, it's easy to see why. Aside from her obvious appearance as an Anemo Sword user, she boasts powerful healing abilities, and stands firm as one of the best five-star characters to have in your party. If you need a strong and capable healer, Jean is your girl, and in this guide we're going to break down the exact builds you need to make the most of her.

As a support, Jean typically won't be doing the most damage in your party, but she is still a formidable character who can provide notable benefits to your team. A jack of all trades, whether it's Elemental cleansing, healing, crowd control, or enemy debuffs, Jean can do it all.

Updated March 7, 2022, by Kyle Gorges: Jean was one of the characters in Genshin Impact's release roster, and to say the game has changed since then would be quite the understatement. Nevertheless, Jean remains an incredibly useful and relevant character in the game's landscape today. This guide has been updated to better pair Jean's abilities with more up to date weapons, artifacts, and strategies.

Best Weapons For Jean

Genshin Jean Aquila Favonia

Weapon Name

Base ATK

Secondary Stat

Passive Ability

Favonius Sword

41

Energy Recharge

Jean's Critical hits will generate Elemental Particles, which will regenerate 6 energy for the character who collects them. This can occur once every 12s.

Amenoma Kageuchi

41

ATK

After Jean casts her Elemental Skill, she will gain 1 Succession Seed. The effect can occur once every 5s, and the Seed will last for 30s. Up to 3 Succession Seeds may exist simultaneously. When Jean uses her Elemental Burst, all Seeds are consumed and Jean will regenerate 6 energy for each Seed consumed.

Skyward Blade

46

Energy Recharge

Jean's Crit Rate is increased by 4%. Upon using her Elemental Burst, Jean gains Skypiercing Might for 12s. This effect grants Jean 10% increased Movement SPD, 10% increased ATK SPD, and Normal and Charged Attacks deal additional DMG equal to 20% of Jean's ATK.

Aquila Favonia

48

Physical DMG Bonus

Jean's ATK is increased by 20%. Upon taking DMG, the soul of the Falcon of the West awakens, regenerating HP equal to 100% of Jean's ATK and dealing 200% of her ATK as DMG to surrounding opponents. This effect can occur once every 15s.

Favonius Sword and Amenoma Kageuchi are likely to be your best four-star options for Jean's weapon. Both are easily attainable - Favonius Sword is a pretty common drop from Wishes and Amenoma Kageuchi is Forgeable - and both offer a similar effect. Although their means slightly differ, both swords provide Jean with respectable ATK levels while giving her avenues to increase her Energy generation. This is important for a healer like Jean who always wants to have her Burst available in case your team's health bars get low.

The five-star Skyward Blade also has Energy Recharge has a secondary stat to help sustain Jean's Burst, but with the added oomph that higher-rarity weapons offer. The weapon's high Base ATK not only improves her damage, but also the amount she heals for. Skyward Blade's other effects give you the option of leaving Jean on the field after her Burst to deal out some punishment of her own.

Aquila Favonia is another five-star option that is actually Jean's signature sword. Many players prefer to emphasize Jean's supportive playstyle with the other weapons above, but if you want your Jean to be more active and aggressive, this is the sword for you. The Physical DMG Bonus that it provides suddenly makes Jean's Normal Attacks hit a lot harder, and the weapon's exceptional Base ATK means that her healing output stays solid as well. When combining Jean's innate healing ability with Aquila Favonia's passive, Jean is nigh immortal while fighting.

Best Artifacts For Jean

Genshin Jean Artifacts Page

Artifact Name

Two-Piece Set Bonus

Four-Piece Set Bonus

Viridescent Venerer

Anemo DMG Bonus +15%

Jean's Swirl DMG is increased by 60%. She will also decrease the opponent's Elemental RES to the element infused in the Swirl by 40% for 10s.

Noblesse Oblige

Elemental Burst DMG +20%

When Jean uses her Elemental Burst, all party members' ATK is increased by 20% for 12s.

Ocean-Hued Clam

Healing Bonus +15%

When Jean heals anyone in the party (including herself), a Sea-Dyed Foam will appear for 3s and begin accumulating the amount of HP recovered (plus excess healing). At the end of the duration, the Sea-Dyed Foam will explode, dealing DMG based on 90% of the accumulated healing. Only one Sea-Dyed Foam can be produced every 3.5s.

Looking at such supportive Artifact sets, you'd be forgiven for thinking that Jean wants supportive and defensive Artifact stats as well; however, this is actually not the case. Remember that Jean's healing scales off her ATK, and her kit's inherent healing capability is so high that she can afford to lean into offensive stats while still being a reliable healer for your team.

As such, you'll generally want to seek out ATK% Sands, Anemo DMG Bonus Goblets, and Crit Rate Circlets. ER Sands can be substituted if you're struggling to get enough Energy for your Burst, and a Crit DMG Circlet can be used if you have high enough Crit Rate from other sources.

Jean's desired Artifact substats are similarly offensive in nature: Crit Rate/DMG, ATK%, and ER are ideal. Elemental Mastery is never bad either, since you'll frequently be inciting Swirl reactions with Jean. When paired with Bennett specifically for the "Sunfire" combination of their Bursts, you can even take advantage of EM mainstats to maximize this strategy's damage potential.

Four-piece Viridescent Venerer is almost always going to be the best choice for Jean, since the ability to shred enemies' Elemental RES is extremely powerful. That being said, if your team doesn't utilize Elemental Reactions at all (e.g. Jean, Xiao, Zhongli, Albedo), Viridescent Venerer's effect is essentially worthless and you'd be better off using Noblesse Oblige on Jean to buff your carry's damage. Ocean-Hued Clam is a funky Artifact set you can use to maximize Jean's solo damage output, but generally it falls behind the other options here.

If you picked up Aquila Favonia for Jean and really want to turn her into a Physical DMG powerhouse, consider running two-pieces of Pale Flame with two-pieces of Bloodstained Chivalry. This build certainly takes the focus off of Jean's healing, Skill, and Burst, but it can be quite fun if you want to try out-damaging your friends with a so-called healer. Plus, even with this unconventional build, Jean's base healing should be enough to make you pretty resilient.

Jean's Talents And Constellations

Genshin Jean Constellations

Leveling up characters' Talents in Genshin Impact consumes a staggering amount of resources, especially at higher levels. Unless you've been hoarding materials for a while, you'll probably have to prioritize which abilities to level up first. For Jean, her Skill and Burst are equally valid to level up, while leaving her Normal Attacks on the back burner is usually fine. Her Skill has better scaling and is her main source of damage, but her Burst is formidable on its own and is where most of Jean's healing comes from. Prioritize your needs based on how you utilize Jean, and level up her Talents accordingly.

As a five-star character, attaining Jean's Constellations isn't exactly easy. She is on the Standard Wish Banner, though, so her Constellations are within easier reach than most. Jean is largely considered to have the best Constellations out of the default five-star characters, and there are a few in particular to aim for if you want to devote yourself to the revered Dandelion Knight. Her C1 is exceptional, being a straight-up improvement to her main ability. C2 has niche applications for buffing the ATK SPD of teammates like Yoimiya, while Jean's C4 has the rare ability to directly buff Anemo DPS characters like Xiao. Keep in mind that Jean's Constellations are hardly necessary to play her effectively, but you certainly won't be disappointed if you manage to snag some during your Wishes.
