Much like her older sister Jean, Barbara is many things in Genshin Impact and in the nation of Mondstadt. She's a diva, a devout, a fighter, and a Vision-user. That last part is pretty much a testament to how she's chosen by the Gods. With all those qualities, one would think that Barbara is difficult to acquire in Genshin Impact. Lucky for us, she's been generously making herself available as early as Adventure Rank 18.

By no means does that imply Barbara is only about as efficient as Amber. She might be a freely-given character but she can be quite busy in a party. For one, Barbara is always in demand since she's a dedicated healer. If not that role, then she can act as one of the best support characters in the game or even as a DPS carry as long as you give her the right Catalysts.

Best Catalysts For Barbara As A Support Character

A support Barbara focuses on letting another character (particularly the DPS main) deal as much damage as possible. She's also a Hydro character so that means she must always be applying Hydro statuses to enemies. These Catalysts help immensely with that endeavor.

Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers

genshin_thrilling_tales
  • Max Base ATK: 401
  • Secondary Stat: HP 35.2%

For the maximum damage that you can deal in a party with Barbara in it, you'll want something like the Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers. It's only a three-star weapon but don't be put off by that. The stats are pretty bad but you're not putting it in Barbara's hands for the base ATK or even the secondary stat.

What you want is the weapon's passive ability. It makes it so that the next character you're switching to after Barbara will get a huge ATK bonus - as much as 48 percent. For sure, you'll want to switch to your DPS carry after Barbara if she has this weapon.

Wine and Song

  • Max Base ATK: 565
  • Secondary Stat: Energy Recharge 30.6%

On its own stats, Wine and Song is pretty good. It can even turn Barbara into a good sub-DPS if need be. The base ATK is one of the highest for Catalysts in the four-star category. Meanwhile, the Energy Recharge is also welcome.

As always, it's the passive ability that makes Barbara synergize well with this weapon. She gets to increase her sprint speed while attacking. That makes her decent for tactical retreats with this weapon or for recuperating after a big hit in boss fights while still dealing damage.

Hakushin Ring

  • Max Base ATK: 565
  • Secondary Stat: Energy Recharge 30.6%

The Hakushin Ring performs identically to the Wine and Song Catalysts if passive abilities are not involved. It's also a good way to alleviate Barbara's energy problems.

However, you'll want the Hakushin Ring for its passive ability that caters to parties with Electro DPS carry characters. Barbara can easily buff up herself and other party members that trigger an Electro-based reaction. That means Electro-Charged, which is an appealing Electro reaction.

Best Catalysts For Barbara As A Healer

Healer Barbara is what most of you are probably gunning for since it's her most ideal role on the battlefield. To that end, you'll want these Catalysts for her so she can focus on that aspect of gameplay.

Sacrificial Fragments

  • Max Base ATK: 454
  • Secondary Stat: Elemental Mastery 221

One of Barbara's less appealing quirks is her long cooldowns, particularly for her Elemental Skill. It's like a certain weapon was made for her to deal with that shortcoming. That would be the Sacrificial Fragments Catalyst.

The passive ability gives the wielder a chance to waive their Elemental Skill cooldown. Since Barbara's Elemental Skill can heal whenever she attacks, that means she can heal even more with the Sacrificial Fragments while also applying Hydro.

Favonius Codex

  • Max Base ATK: 510
  • Secondary Stat: Energy Recharge 45.9%

You might be one of the players who prefers Barbara's Elemental Burst to her Elemental Skill. That one doesn't require her to be on the field for maximum healing. The Favonius Codex is thus a better weapon in that regard.

It gives Barbara a reliable stream of energy so she can recklessly spam her Elemental Burst without worries. Furthermore, the passive ability also increases the generated energy even more.

Prototype Amber

  • Max Base ATK: 510
  • Secondary Stat: HP 41.3%

Another way of making Barbara a potent healer is by playing to her strengths. Her healing amounts scale off of her HP. More HP means more healing. This way, you also get to conserve her energy by not needing to trigger her healing abilities too many times.

The Prototype Amber makes for a great weapon for Barbara in that case. The HP secondary stat is simply too big a benefit for her. The passive ability is also a two-for-one that regenerates both party HP and party energy.

Best Catalysts For Barbara As A DPS

Yes. It's possible. Some players even commit to this despite Barbara's rather low base ATK numbers. It's all thanks to her Hydro element disposition. It allows her to take advantage of Frozen and Vaporize reactions to be a viable DPS.

The Widsith

ningguang with the widsith
  • Max Base ATK: 510
  • Secondary Stat: CRIT DMG 55.1%

The Widsith is a weapon that does so much for Barbara, albeit randomly. It also fits in well with her theme as the Widsith releases a song every time you switch to Barbara. It's essentially a songbook that turns her into a demigod.

In any case, that passive ability gives Barbara more damage or more powerful elemental attacks. If you don't want to depend on that, then there's always the massive Crit Dmg boost you get from the secondary stat.

Skyward Atlas

skyward atlast in genshin impact
  • Max Base ATK: 674
  • Secondary Stat: ATK 33.1%

Moving on to the five-star weapons, Barbara will happily dispose of any enemy for you if you give her one of these. The Skyward Atlas, despite being generally considered as one of the weakest five-star Catalysts, is still a beast in Barbara's hands.

It gives out tons of ATK— enough to offset Barbara's inherently low ATK values. If you want even more, then the secondary stat can buff that up sky high. The passive abilities are good enough for Barbara, but don't expect anything game-changing.

Memory Of Dust

ningguang with memory of dust in genshin impact
  • Max Base ATK: 608
  • Secondary Stat: ATK 49.6%

You can think of Memory of Dust as an upgraded version of Skyward Atlas. While the Skyward weapon focuses more on juggling its passive ability gimmicks, Memory of Dust is a more straightforward ATK increase.

Again, the bonuses here are enough to balance out Barbara's lackluster ATK values. There's more in the passive ability if you need to pile up the ATK higher.

Lost Prayer to the Sacred Winds

ningguang with lost prayer to the sacred winds
  • Max Base ATK: 608
  • Secondary Stat: CRIT Rate 33.1%

While it doesn't quite boost Barbara's ATK in the same way as other five-star weapons, Lost Prayer to the Sacred Winds is still the top choice for the Hydro idol.

The passive ability grants a significant Elemental Dmg bonus which is always great for Barbara's elemental reactions. the Crit Rate ensures that Barbara's attacks hit hard enough for you to consider her as a good DPS carry.
