Genshin Impact's in-game card trading game, Genius Invokation, allows you to explore how your favorite characters are played with in card form. You are given the opportunity to choose from a range of the main game's currently playable characters by inviting your desired character to a match. If you can defeat them in a card battle, even if it takes a few attempts, you'll receive their character card.

The downside is that initially only have three invites to use. You can buy more by earning lucky coins every time you beat a player in your world, but this takes a while, so it's wise to prioritize the characters you'd want to get first. You'll want to invest in damage dealers and supports that will get you through the toughest matches. These character cards are the best ones to play in the game, so don't let them stay on standby for too long.

Updated May 30, 2023, by Vanessa Esguerra: Genshin Impact's Genius Invokation TCG is an ever-expanding mini-game. Because of that, it's inevitable for some characters to rise in power over others. The release of new equipment cards and character cards makes this mini-game thrilling, but it also shifts the meta and power levels of many character cards.

17 Diluc

Genshin Invokation Diluc Card

How To Get Them

Starter Card

Deck To Fight

Kaeya, Diluc, Sucrose

Diluc makes a comeback in the TCG, and is a great pyro damage dealer who you don't even have to fight for. His burst is notorious for dealing huge damage numbers, which could effectively wipe your opponent's card out and his normal attacks are also infused with pyro after his burst for two rounds, which can result in other characters in your opponent's team taking huge hits.

Diluc's skill alone is capable of dealing large damage numbers through pyro-related reactions, so even as you acquire other cards later in the game, you'll find that Diluc is still a great pick for your team.

16 Xiangling

Genshin Invokation Xiangling Card

How To Get Them

Invite Them To The Cat's Tail For A Match

Deck To Fight

Xiangling, Xingqiu, Keqing

Xiangling has been a reliable staple of the game, and she's going to continue that here. Summoning Guoba applies pyro to the opponent's active character by the end of the round, which deals two damage for two rounds. Her pyronado inflicts two pyro damage on its own, which is transferrable to other character cards. Her pyronado is activated once the active character uses their skill and burst, which creates a pyro-infused reaction.

She's a great pyro-support card, and a great option if you're the type of player who's fond of summons and a quick swap play style. She will be able to provide the pyro application you need, even if she's not the active character, which is an exclusive trait to her kit.

15 Bennett

Genshin Invokation Card Bennett Card

How To Get Them

Invite Them To The Cat's Tail For A Match

Deck To Fight

Bennett, Razor, Barbara

Bennett is a great support card because he functions the same way he does in actual combat. He can heal your active character through his burst, right after they unleash an attack against your opponent. He can also buff your team through pyro resonance, and buff your active character through his burst.

Bennett can be placed in almost any team, and he's essential in certain teams. Either way, you can never go wrong with Bennett, unless you're avoiding pyro reactions.

14 Yoimiya

Genshin Invokation Card Yoimiya

How To Get Them

Invite Them To The Cat's Tail For A Match

Deck To Fight

Yoimiya, Bennett, Chongyun

Yoimiya isn't burst-reliant and you can infuse her normal attacks with pyro through her skill. The advantage of her kit is that she can use less pyro dice to attack with pyro skills, making it easier to trigger other elemental reactions.

She's much like Diluc with her normal attack and elemental infusion, except it doesn't take as long for her to burst to infuse her attacks with pyro. Her pyro-infused, single target damage shines through in TCG, especially if she's paired up with the right characters. Just note that pressing her skill doesn't immediately launch an attack against your opponent, it just infuses pyro to your normal attack.

13 Amber

Genshin Invokation TCG Amber Card

How To Get Them

Invite Them To The Cat's Tail For A Match

Deck To Fight

Amber, Eula, Collei

Amber might not receive a lot of love as a damage dealer in the actual game, but at least she does in TCG. Her baron bunny has great utility for buffering the damage your active character takes by two damage for one usage. When baron bunny is used, you also have the choice to discard it for two pyro damage by the end of the round.

Amber also has a burst that can deal piercing damage to surrounding characters, which is something you will want to be wary of. As a support character card, she's great for those who need both damage reduction and pyro application.

12 Ganyu

Genshin Invokation Card Ganyu

How To Get Them

Invite Them To The Cat's Tail For A Match

Deck To Fight

Ganyu, Diona, Keqing

Ganyu's charged shot and ability to damage surrounding characters is retained here. Although she doesn't inflict cryo on the other targets and deals physical damage instead to the other cards, her target receives cryo damage with additional piercing damage. Her burst casts a summon that has two usages every end round, which deals cryo damage to the opponent's active character and piercing damage to all the opponent's characters.

The best part about Ganyu's card is that her burst only requires two energy, which means it will be easier for you to keep her burst up for more frequent use.

11 Ayaka

Genshin Invokation Card Ayaka

How To Get Them

Invite Them To The Cat's Tail For A Match

Deck To Fight

Ayaka, Chongyun, Xingqiu

When you first switch to her, Ayaka's normal attacks are infused with cryo. This makes her easily apply cryo to the opponent's active character. This means that Ayaka's burst deals cryo damage on its initial application, and applies cryo to the opponent's active character for the next two end rounds.

Ayaka's perfect for freeze-related teams, as well as inducing melt reactions given her ability to consistently apply her element. It will take time for her to gain her burst, as it does cost three energy in comparison to Ganyu who only needs two energy. But even so, her burst can definitely erase a card and lasts for two end rounds.

10 Xingqiu

Genshin Invokation Card Xingqui

How To Get Them

Invite Them To The Cat's Tail For A Match

Deck To Fight

Xingqiu, Chongyun, Xiangling

For consistent hydro application, Xingqiu is an amazing choice that will help you trigger vaporize, electro-charge, freeze, and bloom. Ideally, it's good to pair him with characters whose elements are infused with their normal attacks since his rain swords only activate once your active character hits with their normal attack. He's also a flexible pick, and you can't go wrong with putting him on a team that needs a damage boost from hydro application.

Xingqiu adds damage to your team through hydro-related elemental reactions, and works well even in freeze teams at TCG. If you don't have hydro characters unlocked at TCG yet, Xingqiu should be your priority.

9 Nahida

Genshin Invokation Card TCG Nahida

How To Get Them

Invite Them To The Cat's Tail For A Match

Deck To Fight

Nahida, Ayato, Cyno

The god of wisdom is unsurprisingly excellent as a dendro applicator. Nahida is great for directly applying dendro against your enemies with just her normal attacks, since she's a catalyst character. But should you opt to choose her skill, she could either apply it individually to an opposing card, or she could do the same while dealing piercing damage through Seed of Skanda against all enemies.

She's a good unit for bloom, burning, and even aggravate teams. But even if those are teams she excels at best, Nahida also has many other team options you can explore with other characters given her unique way of applying dendro.

8 Collei

Genshin Invokation Card Collei

How To Get Them

Invite Them To The Cat's Tail For A Match

Deck To Fight

Collei, Xiangling, Mona

Collei might not have the Terrorshroom's painful attacks, but her ability to apply dendro through a summon makes her a consistent dendro applicator, even if she's not your active card. Her skill applies dendro directly to the active character in the opposing team, and her burst does the same with the addition of activating a summon that lasts for two end rounds.

She basically makes it rain dendro, and she's perfect for teams that crave dendro reactions for higher damage numbers. Her normal attacks might not beat that of the Jadeplume Terrorshroom's, but she excels over the chicken when it comes to elemental application and team compatibility.

7 Maguu Kenki

Genshin Invokation Card Maguu Kenki

How To Get Them

Cat's Tail Tavern Challenge (Ask Prince The Cat)

Deck To Fight

Bennett, Fischl, Xingqiu

This character card is basically a cheat, since it wields two elements in one card. It can summon a cryo attack, or summon an anemo attack. Both of the aforementioned summons have two usages. Its burst deals four anemo damage on its own, which is still pretty painful to receive even if your opponent's card doesn't have any element on it.

If that's not great, the Maguu Kenki's ability to wield two elements also mean that an additional cryo character or anemo character can result in elemental resonance. Cryo resonance deals additional damage, while anemo resonance creates additional omni dice.

6 Venti

Genshin Invokation Card TCG Venti

How To Get Them

Invite Them To The Cat's Tail For A Match

Deck To Fight

Venti, Klee, Kaeya

Anemo can get better, and proof of that is Venti's TCG card. Venti's card doesn't just swirl elements, his burst sustains the swirl for two end rounds. This means additional damage caused by swirl without having to apply another element to your opponent's character card. Not only does this save you from switching characters, but Venti technically offers passive damage for lesser dice.

He's best with characters who need help sustaining elemental status. Having Venti in your team could be a chaotic swirl of elements but in a good way.

5 Xiao

Genshin Invokation Card TCG Xiao

How To Get Them

Invite Them To The Cat's Tail For A Match

Deck To Fight

Xiao, Kaeya, Keqing

Facing off against a team with Xiao in TCG will make you lament. You know that it's over for your character once he says "evil conquering", because his burst deals massive damage especially when there's another element applied to your character card.

You might be wondering which anemo TCG card is the best, and the answer will always be situational. But if you're looking for a support that can swirl elements, deal significant damage numbers, and is energy efficient, especially with the Engulfing Lightning, then Xiao is without a doubt, the best for the job.

4 Zhongli

Genshin Invokation Card TCG Zhongli

How To Get Them

Invite Them To The Cat's Tail For A Match

Deck To Fight

Zhongli, Itto, Chongyun

This humble employee of the Wangsheng Funeral parlor will ironically keep your team alive through his thick shields and be able to petrify your enemies with his burst. For a support character card, his damage is not negligible, and will remind you that he's a god who can hurl meteor-like objects out of the sky.

He's not a weak card by any means and will keep his teammates protected through various ways of acquiring shields. The best part is that you can slot him in any team, should you need crystallized reactions or a decent damage dealer.

3 Tartaglia

Genshin Invokation Card TCG Tartaglia

How To Get Them

Invite Them To The Cat's Tail For A Match

Deck To Fight

Tartaglia, Cryo Cicin Mage, Fatui Pyro Agent

You'll have to fight Childe and his coworkers to get his card, but it will be worth doing so because his kit is made for pure hydro damage. There are many teams you can experiment with, but his strongest team remains to be vaporized with Xiangling and Bennett.

He also applies piercing damage to those affected by his riptide status. It's no surprise to Childe mains that his kit would be complex in TCG, particularly his melee stance and ranged stance mechanic. If you opt to use his burst while in melee stance, the burst deals more damage. But if you use his burst during his ranged stance, then you regain two energy at the cost of a little less damage.

2 Yae Miko

Genshin Invokation Card TCG Yae Miko

How To Get Them

Invite Them To The Cat's Tail For A Match

Deck To Fight

Yae Miko, Fischl, Tighnari

Yae Miko is a dangerous card to go against. This sly nine-tailed fox can summon a Sesshou Sakura, which is her summon that will be present for three usages. You could also refill her summon a second time, which can max out at six usages. What that means is that any active card you have by the end round will be zapped once, or for six rounds should you keep her summon refilled.

But you're probably not going to do that, and you're going to employ her unforgiving burst. If this burst is activated while there are Sesshou Sakura onfield, it deals extra electro damage as a follow-up attack. Yae is not only great as a burst support, but also as an electro applicator.

1 Cyno

Genshin Invokation Card Cyno

How To Get Them

Invite Them To The Cat's Tail For A Match

Deck To Fight

Cyno, Razor, Xingqiu

Electro reactions are tricky to deal with here in TCG, as they either force your opponents to swap characters when overload is applied or make all of their character cards take damage. The TCG master's card is sure to be here, and his kit works like a charm. Your normal attacks are converted to electro damage with your passive skill.

Compared to other electro cards, he only needs two energy to get his burst up which is a great advantage to have. With the right team, Cyno can deal an ample amount of damage and trigger various electro related reactions while spending less electro dice.
