Exploration in Genshin Impact is all fun and games until you reach lands that have rougher terrains and stronger enemies. Everybody who plays this game knows that once you leave for the first two nations, it'd feel as if nature is trying to kill you and that you're always out of stamina.

If you're just starting your adventure in Teyvat, these are some of the playable characters that'll really help you out.

If you're in a higher adventure rank, you're also likely tired of not reaching your destinations quickly. Luckily for both new and old players, some characters make life much easier in the overworld. Based on mobility and utility, here are your best bets for overworld exploration.

10 Sayu

Sayu from Genshin Impact
  • Rarity - Four-Star
  • Element - Anemo

Our little sleepy ninja here is often showcased by many streamers when they explore their world in Genshin Impact. Sayu has a unique sprint through her elemental skill that turns her into a fast-rolling ball—it will remind you of those cartoonish armadillos that speed away by turning into a ball.

Getting from point A to point B quickly isn't the only thing that Sayu excels at. Even without constellations, Sayu can consistently swirl other elements while in her elemental skill, which makes her a good anemo support. Most importantly, she's also a healer through her burst, which saves you a lot of food in the long run.

9 Ayaka

Ayaka from Genshin Impact
  • Rarity - Five-Star
  • Element - Cryo

Some Genshin Impact players are resinless, it's come to the point that they've tried to ice bridge their way from Liyue to Inazuma. If you have Ayaka, and you'd like to try doing that, fate is going to be kinder to you. Ayaka's sprint is great for applying cryo, since like Mona, she also disappears. The only difference is that she turns into a trail of moving ice.

You can keep water frozen as long as you want through her skill and her sprint. But even if you're not up for making ice bridges, and you're not exactly convinced that her sprint is worth it, it's still worth noting that she's a powerful damage dealer who can keep you alive in the overworld as you ascend and build your other characters.

8 Keqing

Keqing from Genshin Impact Burst
  • Rarity - Five-Star
  • Element - Electro

Keqing is the first character we got that can teleport through her skill, and while Alhaitham can do the same with his skill, Keqing is arguably more accessible since she's in the standard banner. Even if you lose to her in your pulls, she's still a great character to have if you want to be on top of high places in a blink.

She's also a good damage dealer who shines in teams that prioritize dendro reactions. She might be somebody you'd want to put in your team while exploring Sumeru, since the environment in that region capitalizes on Dendro's interactions with various elements.

7 Yelan

Yelan from Genshin Impact Burst
  • Rarity - Five-Star
  • Element - Hydro

There are many reasons to love Yelan, and one of those reasons is her elemental skill. Yelan turns invisible and moves quickly without consuming stamina, which is great if you're in a hurry to get somewhere, and you want to conserve energy. Another great point about her elemental skill is its crowd control, which ties enemies with a string of hydro.

Her hydro application is what makes her a great character, but it's her build that makes her extremely suitable for the overworld. Forget about dying, since building Yelan requires you to stack as much HP on her as you can. That makes her harder to kill if you haven't mastered the art of dodging just yet.

6 Neuvillette

Genshin Impact Neuvillette Walking In Darkness
  • Rarity - Five-Star
  • Element - Hydro

Fontaine has been a great region when it comes to getting characters for exploration since the main formula in this region is to allow characters to reduce and increase their own HP. In the case of Neuvillette, he deals a ton of DMG with his Charged Attack but also heals up fully when he consumes the drops from his skill or burst.

If you don't have a dedicated healer in your party, his automatic healing will go a long way. Moreover, having characters from multiple elements is incentivized in his kit, which is also a good thing to have while exploring the world of various elements.

5 Zhongli

Zhongli from Genshin Impact
  • Rarity - Five-Star
  • Element - Geo

If you struggle to dodge enemies, or hate taking a lot of damage, Zhongli will be a game-changer for your account. He'll make sure your team never takes damage through his jade shield, which is objectively the strongest shield in the game. His elemental skill also helps you mine faster, as it breaks all sorts of rocks when you hold his skill down.

This man can even be a good physical damage dealer. Although most people build Zhongli as a shield bot or as a burst support, some level his normal attacks up so that they deal decent damage. At C6, Zhongli becomes everything, everywhere all at once: his shield heals anybody within it, which makes it impossible to kill.

4 Nahida

Nahida from Genshin Impact
  • Rarity - Five-Star
  • Element - Dendro

Our beloved Dendro Archon is here for her elemental skill, as well as her utility. Nahida might not get you to places as fast as the previous entries here, and she's not exactly going to heal you or shield you from damage, but she can help you harvest by focusing her elemental skill on your targeted flowers and fruits.

That's great news for anybody farming materials that are propped up in impossibly high places. She's also a flexible character in team compositions and can be a great main source of damage. She's also arguably the best Dendro support in the game since her Dendro application is second to none.

3 Kazuha

Kazuha getting ready to slash with his sword while he's surrounded by enemies.
  • Rarity - Five-Star
  • Element - Anemo

If you invite your favorite wandering samurai to your overworld party, exploring Teyvat will be breezy. Kazuha is built for exploration, as his Cloud Strider passive talent decreases your party's sprinting stamina consumption by 20 percent. Your feet will be light as long as you're with him, and his elemental skill will make you fly up on hold—a blessing when you're exploring the cliffs of Liyue and the depths of the Chasm.

He's also amazing for swirling elemental reactions and is the best support you can ask for in terms of crowd control. Whether you're in a lower or a higher adventure rank, Kazuha remains to be a great Anemo unit that can amplify your damage and group enemies in place.

2 Furina

Genshin Impact Furina Idle Animation With Fontaine Scenery
  • Rarity - Five-Star
  • Element - Hydro

Remember that five-star healer who could walk on water during her Elemental Burst? It turns out HoYoverse decided to completely power creep her using the Hydro Archon. Furina has a phenomenal kit that gives her two forms of elemental skill, one to deal damage to the enemies and the other to heal your characters.

The best part about using her as an exploration companion is that she can freely walk on water when her skill is activated, which has a 100 percent uptime, making her great for Fontaine and Inazuma. The only problem with Furina is that she doesn't have any ability to speed you up while running.

1 Wanderer

Wanderer from Genshin Impact Burst Animation
  • Rarity - Five-Star
  • Element - Anemo

When Venti said "May the wind guide you", he really meant that by making sure most, if not all the Anemo vision holders become great exploration units. Wanderer here is no different and is the best unit to have for overworld exploration. This man levitates for a certain period with a second stamina bar, allowing him to hover over anything.

With him on your team, you can forget drowning or running out of stamina and then falling off of cliffs. There are absolutely no downsides to this guy - just don't open chests with him.
