Finding the best weapon for Sucrose in Genshin Impact is a more intricate process than you might think. Unlike most catalyst users, Sucrose is equally at home with weapons and builds centered around her Elemental Skill as she is with using her normal and charged attacks.

On the bright side, it means you have quite a bit of flexibility when it comes to choosing your ideal weapon, which is good considering Genshin’s drop rates for some of the best weapons. While the craftable catalysts are a bit of a letdown for Sucrose, you can actually put one of the three-star weapons to good use to the point where it rivals a four-star weapon.

8 Kagura’s Verity

Kagura’s Verity is a good choice for Sucrose, but only if you’ve been around the Genshin block several times and have at least four Sucrose copies to show it. Kagura’s Verity increases the user’s Elemental Skill damage by 12 percent and can stack three times, but the effect’s length lasts 16 seconds. Sucrose’s Skill cooldown is 15 seconds normally. C1 Sucrose gets an extra Skill charge, though, and C4 Sucrose can reduce the cooldown with normal attacks. There are a lot of conditions attached to this weapon, but if you happen to meet them all, it’s an excellent choice for boosting Sucrose’s damage.

7 Prototype Amber

Prototype Amber is okay. It’s fine. And that’s about it. The base attack is decent, though the secondary stat (HP) isn’t the most useful around. Its passive skill generates Energy for the party after you use an Elemental Burst, which gives it some use as a support weapon, though it’s one of the weaker catalysts in general.

If you do use Prototype Amber, make sure to pair Sucrose with Energy-needy characters, such as Ayaka and the Raiden Shogun.

6 The Widsith

Sucrose using her Elemental Skill in Genshin Impact

Widsith is an unreliable weapon for planning, but one that works for Sucrose in almost any situation. Its passive skill begins a song when the wielder takes the field, and it could be one of three songs:

  • Recitative: Increases attack by 60 percent
  • Aria: Increases Elemental damage by 48 percent
  • Interlude: Increases Elemental Mastery by 240

Sucrose benefits from all of these, though if you’re building a Swirl Sucrose or one focused on normal attacks, you’re not always going to get the effect that suits your build.

5 Dodoco Tales

Sucrose using a charged attack in Genshin Impact

If you received the free Dodoco Tales catalyst during Midsummer Island Adventure, it’s another good, albeit no-frills, choice for Sucrose. Dodoco Tales offsets its lower base attack with a secondary stat that boosts the user’s attack. The passive skill increases charged attack damage by 16 percent after the wielder uses a normal attack, and it boosts normal attack power by eight percent after using a charged attack.

You’ll rely on patterns of normal and charged attack combos with Sucrose more than most catalyst users, since her Skill cooldown time is longer, and Dodoco Tales helps maximize your damage even when you can’t use her flashier skills.

4 Solar Pearl

Solar Pearl is simple, but effective. Its secondary stat increases the user’s critical hit rate, which isn’t very useful for Sucrose since her base critical rate is five percent. The passive skill is where it really shines, though. Normal attacks increase Elemental Skill and Burst damage by 20 percent, and using an Elemental Skill or Burst does the same for normal attack. It’s a win-win situation no matter how you approach your foes.

3 Emerald Orb

You might have been told to ignore three-star weapons, but if you’re just starting out or haven’t received a catalyst in your Wishes, the Emerald Orb is a surprisingly good three-star catalyst. It has a base attack of 40, just slightly lower than most four-star catalysts, and increases the user’s Elemental Mastery – a handy boon considering Sucrose is designed to deal Swirl damage. Even better is the passive skill. It boosts attack by 20 percent if the user triggers Swirl with Hydro, Frozen, Vaporize, or Electro-Charged, which is almost every type of Swirl anyway.

The best part is you find so many Emerald Orbs, you can level up the passive skill to the max in almost no time, which means a bigger boost to your attack after triggering Swirl.

2 Sacrificial Fragments

Sacrificial Fragments is particularly good for Sucrose given her Skill’s long cooldown time. The weapon's passive skill gives you a decent chance of ending the user's Skill's cooldown time after using the Skill, and while it's not foolproof, the success rate is quite good. Combine that with C1 Sucrose gaining an extra charge for her Skill, and you have a potent Swirl machine at the ready. It's a fair tradeoff for the relatively low base attack stat.

1 Skyward Atlas

Skyward Atlas is, as ever, a fantastic pick for any catalyst user, Sucrose included. It has the highest base attack of any catalyst, and the secondary stat boosts the user’s attack even further. The passive skill enhances Elemental damage by 12 percent and can generate an orb that deals damage equal to 160 percent of the wielder’s attack. It’s a no-frills weapon perfect for any Sucrose used in a DPS capacity, whether she's built for attack or for Elemental damage.
