For many, Genshin Impact has become a way of life. A daily deviation from the ordinary, mundane world in exchange for a much more exciting one, where we can go frolicking throughout the regions of Teyvat conquering monsters, bosses and quests alike.

Unfortunately, when the updates and fresh content stop coming, it puts us at a bit of a loss, especially if we've already blasted through all the new material. Is there really nothing left to do but wait until the plot picks up again? Not at all! In a game as massive as Genshin, there are more than a few things you can do to keep yourself busy when you're feeling put out.

10 Go Touch Some Grass

You can never have an overabundance of Mint. Head out into the wilds and stock up on raw materials and ingredients. Fruits and vegetables are great for cooking. Ores are perfect for crafting weapons and creating replicas for Refinements, and if you need to create furniture in the Serenitea Pot, beating up trees for wood is easy. Sweet Flowers, Sunsettias, and Mint also make your dyes.

Plus, as you run around harvesting from the cliffs and plains, you're sure to run into monsters, Ley Lines, and random NPC requests, giving you extra Mora and Companion EXP.

9 Become A Farmer

Downtime in between updates is the most ideal time ever to throw all your Resin into Domains. The enemies in the game just get stronger with each new release, so of course you should try your best to get stronger too! Committing daily to farming can be exhausting, but it's well worth it.

Domain runs will boost your artifacts, talents and weapons to the highest levels they can reach. Clearing bosses and domains will clear the missions of your Battle Pass too, where you'll reap extra rewards.

8 Earn Achievements

Genshin Impact Achievements

Genshin has a lot of Achievements. A lot. They're pretty varied, too. It's one of the best ways to harvest Primogems and add new Namecards to your collection. A number of achievements involve opening chests, following Seelies, or completing Timed Trials.

These give multiple kinds of rewards, such as weapons, level-up experience, artifacts, and Primogems. They're also a fun way of challenging yourself to build your character stronger, beat battle-specific conditions and explore new places.

7 Explore To Perfection

Genshin Impact Map Exploration

Speaking of exploration, Genshin Impact's map lets you see your own progress throughout its different regions. When it's at a golden one-hundred percent completion rate, it basically means you've completed all the tasks you've needed to and discovered all the hidden chests that aren't a part of the ones that regularly respawn.

This goes neatly hand-in-hand with unlocking achievements, since a lot of the achievements you complete will count towards your exploration progress. It's a pretty satisfying way to spend the idle weeks waiting for new updates.

6 Make Your 'Home' A Home

Genshin Impact Serenitea Pot

The Serenitea Pot is one of the most lucrative yet underused features of the game. Understandably, it takes a great deal of effort and commitment to build a 'world' from scratch. Hours, and days, and weeks in fact. However, the benefits can't be overlooked. It's the fastest way to gather Companion EXP and Realm Currency.

Realm Currency not only lets you buy furnishings and blueprints, but other vital materials for adventuring. These include Mora, EXP Journals, Resin, and Weapon or Artifact enhancements. All of these will better prepare you for the new journeys in the game's updates ahead.

5 Unlock The Power Of Friendship

Genshin Impact Unlocking Friendship Character Story Profile

With the main story on its break, this is an awesome window of opportunity to give some appreciation to your lesser-used characters. Why not try shaking things up a little with a new team combination?

Traveling with new companions will raise their friendship points, which consequently unlock their background stories, Vision history, and interesting voice conversations you wouldn't have known about otherwise. It's also incredibly fun to take low-level teams into domains and up against bosses. The constant dying and revival via food is sure to bring back fond memories from your early days in the game.

4 Struggle In The Spiral Abyss

Genshin Impact Spiral Abyss

Abyssal Stars and Primogems are there for the taking when you challenge the Spiral Abyss. It's avoided almost as much as the Serenitea Pot, just for different reasons. It wears you down, and it's frustrating, time-consuming, and when you come up against particularly brutal foes, a little demoralizing.

However, if you ever want to test how strong your characters have become, the Abyss is your arena. Why not spend some of your free time in it? You'll get Primogems, 4-star and 5-star artifacts, and a major boon of 1,500 points towards the monthly Battle Pass by achieving twelve stars.

3 Hang Out Again

Genshin Impact Hangout Quests Beidou Achievements

Like most open-world games, a large majority of the quests in Genshin can't be re-experienced once they've been completed. Of course, you can watch walkthroughs and any seasonal events you've missed out on online, and the game itself has an archive where you can re-listen to the quests you've done.

However, this isn't quite the same as going through it yourself. Luckily, Companion Hangout Quests are always available to play through, no matter how many times you've done them. Breaks in Genshin updates give all the time you need to have fun with your companions once again.

2 Share The Love

Genshin Impact Fan Art Fanfic Community

Genshin Impact's fandom is massive, and continues to flourish. In a community full of artists, writers and creatives, there's never an absence of content — even when the developers need to take some well-deserved breaks.

While you wait for that update to come, you can easily immerse yourself in the crafts of fellow Genshin gamers, or even create a work yourself to share with others. Whether that's fanfiction, fanart, music, or commissions, the fandom is welcoming and engaging. So, don't be shy!

1 Stay Connected

Genshin Impact Discord Social Media Twitter

You won't ever truly have to worry about falling out of the loop when it comes to the game. Even if updates are delayed, or you've simply cleared through all the new content due to your love for story and its secrets, things never do stop in the world of Genshin.

The official Twitter account, and in particular the Discord server, are forever active. If you find yourself with little to do, connect with others in the fandom. Do some co-op, play other games together, chat about your days, or even the game's deep lore. In a community this large, there will always be a way to pass the time while you wait for the next stage of the adventure.
