Over on Reddit, a Genshin Impact player has discovered a bug that lets you add one additional member to your party. Typically locked at four, this simple trick will allow you to bring a fifth member along on your adventures.

We're not sure how much time you have before miHoYo patches out the bug, but here's how it works:

  • Die with the character you'd like to add to the fifth slot.
  • Select the dead character's number on the righthand portion of the screen AND Alt-click the main menu simultaneously.
  • Change out the dead character for a new one.
  • Revive the dead character by eating any food.
  • Enjoy your fifth character.

The Redditor tried to take the bug one step further and add a sixth party member, but wasn't successful. If you want to go back to a four-member party, you just need to deploy a new group and you should jump out of the glitch. They also point out that Elemental Resonance works with the fifth member as well – making you a powerful force on the battlefield.

Don't expect this to last for too long. miHoYo has been doing a great job of deploying frequent patches and content updates, so it's likely this will be fixed as soon as possible. Some commentors are hoping that a five-person squad becomes the new normal, as having an extra member means they don't have to do as much character swapping in the menu screens.

Genshin Impact continues to thrive, earning over $250 million its first month on the market. There aren't many games like it on the horizon, although we're curious to see how it fares once PS5 and Xbox Series X are launched next month.

Genshin Impact is now available on PC, PS4, iOS, and Android. At the time of writing the five-member squad bug was still active – act fast if you want to check it out for yourself.
