The Cryo Hypostasis Daleth is a boss that was added in the 1.5 updates of Genshin Impact. The boss is found in the Dragonspine region and requires resin to claim rewards from much like the other elemental bosses. As one would expect from a Dragonspine fight, there is more to worry about than just getting hit by a few elemental attacks. Sheer cold plays a huge role in this fight, and players will need to do a bit of prep before hopping into the ring with the Cryo Hypostasis.

This battle can be a bit harder than the other elemental bosses, especially on your first few encounters with the Cryo Hypostasis.

Cryo Hypostasis Prep

Heat Source at the Cryo Hypostasis

Before fighting the Cryo Hypostasis, you are going to need to do a bit of prep. This time there are a few more steps than just boosting your attack and defense with dishes. You will want to bring along some Goulash, as this can slow down how quickly your sheer cold meter will rise.

Once you have used buffs, carefully run around the outside of the arena. There are three heat sources that you will want to activate before you start the boss fight. This is crucial as the Cryo Hypostasis greatly accelerates the rate at which your sheer cold meter will increase.

Cryo Hypostasis Attacks

Cryo Hypostasis Icy Explosion Attack

The Cryo Hypostasis has quite a few unique attacks in its arsenal, and you will be doing a lot of dodging during this fight. Many of its attacks involve hurling cryo projectiles at your character.

  • Clap – The Hypostasis forms two large hands that try to clap together on top of your character.
  • Crystalline Skirt – Forms three rings of icicles that it shoots out around itself.
  • Frost Wheel – Turns into a wheel with icicle spikes and quickly spins towards your character.
  • Homing Icicles – Shoots icicles that home into your player and deal cryo damage.
  • Icy Explosion – Spawns icicles around itself and where your character is standing or stepping on the field.

Most of these attacks can be dodged by moving away from the Cryo Hypostasis and not standing still when projectiles are being deployed. Just keep a close eye on the boss, and you will avoid taking damage.

Cryo Hypostasis Strategy

Winning Against the Cryo Hypostasis

The Cryo Hypostasis, like the other Hypostasis bosses, can only be damaged when its core is exposed. Some attacks will expose the core, like when the Hypostasis uses its homing attack and Icy Explosion. During the homing attack using a catalyst or bow user can make the core easy to hit, but dodging should be a priority. The same logic applies for Icy Explosion, but the core will be on the ground and is much easier to hit with characters like Diluc.

The best strategy is to wait until the core uses an attack and exposes itself. During this time, it's quite easy to run in and deal a few powerful blows. Be sure you are also keeping a close eye on your sheer cold meter. While the Hypostasis is attacking, try to run by all three of the heat sources to bring your meter down.

You should be prepared with extra healing items, as it's highly likely you will take damage. Using Barbara as your healer can also be a bit risky as it can lead to your character being frozen due to her applying the wet status. The following characters are great choices for the fight against the Cryo Hypostasis:

  • Amber
  • Yanfei
  • Razor
  • Diona
  • Beidou
  • Xinyan
  • Diluc
  • Qiqi
  • Jean
  • Xiao
  • Fischl
  • Hu Tao
  • Venti
  • Sucrose
  • Bennett
  • Lisa
  • Keqing
  • Klee

Amber, Klee, and Yanfei are particularly useful against the Cryo Hypostasis as they have ranged attacks. Amber, in particular, can be especially helpful when hitting the exposed core while the boss is attacking. Electro and Anemo characters are also effective against this boss, especially when triggering swirl and superconduct. For extra protection against cryo, include Diona in your party and deploy her shield.

Taking Down The Cryo Hypostasis's Shield

Cryo-Shield-Genshin-Impact

The hardest part of the Cryo Hypostasis battle is when you trigger its shield mode. Like the other Hypostasis bosses, the Cryo Hypostasis has a last-ditch effort to heal itself when it gets low on health. The boss will summon a cryo shield that has to be taken down using the fruit it throws out while in the shielded state. Even reactions and bursts will do little to reduce the shield on their own.

  • Warning: If the Cryo Hypostasis manages to heal when its health is depleted again, its shield will return with full health the next time it's summoned.

The fruit the Cryo Hypostasis releases looks like spiky balls and can only be moved when hit with charged attacks. Position your character behind the fruit and hit it in the direction of the stationary Cryo Hypostasis to knock out a massive portion of its shield's health. You will need to hit the boss with several of these fruits in order to keep it from healing. After the shield goes down simply deal the final blow to gain access to your loot.
