Genshin Impact has made its players wonder what's actually going on in Teyvat since day one. There are a lot of puzzle pieces that just don't seem to fit, like the fact that the citizens of Mondstadt and Liyue are puzzled by Paimon. There are also a lot of backstories and small bits of lore that point to a much darker story being on the horizon. Players who have completed the newest story quest, " We Will Be Reunited," have especially started to question some of the game's characters and the way the world works.

Below are ten fan theories that make a lot of sense about unanswered questions including the strange state of Teyvat's sky and Paimon's knowledge.

10 Theory: Dainsleif Will Introduce A New Element

Dainsleif Dialouge

There are only so many combinations that can be made between the current weapon and element types. This is true even after the first Dendro characters come out. If Genshin Impact is going to be a game that's around for years, adding in a new element would make perfect sense.

Dainsleif is supposed to be a future playable character, and from what we got to see in the latest quest, he isn't using a normal element. Speculation is that he will be the one to increase the element count in Teyvat.

9 Theory: The Fatui Are Actually Good

Signora Venti

The Fatui are portrayed as the game's current villains, but fans have already started to question how true that may be. After all, the Harbingers have not killed any of the Archons. Even Zhongli seems to be ok with their plans.

It also seems like no one is really doing anything to try and stop the Cryo Archon. Tartaglia appears to truly believe that the Tsaritsa has the good of the world in mind and the game's lore even describes the Cryo Archon as being kind.

8 Theory: Celestia Is Actually Above A Fake Sky

Diluc in Spiral Abyss

While many players initially thought the floating island seen in the distant Teyvat sky was Celestia, it's entirely possible that we can't see it at all. In the Fallen Stars event, Scaramouche revealed that the sky is fake, and the bottom floors of the Spiral Abyss also seem to back this information up.

As a natural conclusion, many players now think that Celestia is above the fake sky ceiling of Teyvat, safely hidden away.

7 Theory: Albedo Will Be A Future Boss

Albedo growing a plant on his right hand.

Albedo has stated himself that he is dangerous, as has Dainsleif. Rosaria also has her concerns about the alchemist. Albedo even admits that Traveler will need to stop him if he ever gets out of control. It's also been heavily implied that he was created from alchemy and that his powers to create far surpass that of others in Teyvat.

It's very possible that the game will go down a dark path, and Albedo will be one of the characters turning on Mondstadt. After all, Tartaglia has already set the precedent of being both a playable character and a weekly boss.

6 Theory: Aether And Lumine Are Gods

Another popular theory is that Aether and Lumine are actually both Gods, or at least on the same level as one. The twins are able to travel through multiple worlds, have been around for hundreds if not thousands of years, and we know nothing of their story outside the events that have been revealed in Teyvat so far.

No one asks about their homeworld, how they are able to travel, or why they travel to different worlds. We have no idea how much potential they really have but they've certainly displayed a lot of power so far.

5 Theory: Paimon Is Evil

Paimon Being Fished up

Paimon showed up at a pretty convenient time for Traveler. She was magically fished out of the sea and apparently has nothing better to do than float around behind you, helping you out.

She also seems extremely knowledgeable about Teyvat, despite the fact that several characters don't seem to know who or even what she is. This seems to point to Paimon also being an anomaly who may have an unrevealed agenda.

4 Theory: Visions Are Being Corrupted

Barbaras Hydro Vision

Visions are being shown in a worse and worse light. Character stories have revealed that they tend to go out during times of distress. One concerning thing that we have noticed is that all vision users seem quite young, and no older vision users have yet to appear.

There is also the fact that visions can be manufactured by the cryo archon with disastrous results. Nothing adds up here so corruption being in play is the only thing that makes sense.

3 Theory: Scaramouche Uses Two Elements

Scaramouche

Many believe that Genshin Impact will freshen things up by giving characters two elements in the future. This idea was already played around with a bit during the Childe boss fight. There have also been some data leaks to support this theory, leading many to theorize that it may point to Scaramouche being a double element user.

Many fans want this to be true as switching elements would make the battle system much more complicated but also much more interesting.

2 Theory: Hilichurls Where Once Human

Hilichurl friendship meter

Hilichurls are mysterious beings that have been revealed to have their own language and culture. Many fans are starting to theorize that they were once human and were changed due to an ancient war. This seems plausible, especially since Ella Musk has proven that communication is possible.

We would love to learn more about the Hilichurls and eventually even see a character related to them.

1 Theory: Kaeya is Still a Spy

Kaeya in main story

Kaeya doesn't exactly have the best reputation in Mondstadt. He can easily be described as shady, and his past involves him being a former spy. Many believe Kaeya may still be playing Mondstadt, and while he feels for those he's met, he's planning to strike when the time's right.

With the way he causes trouble, it wouldn't be hard to see a loyalty flip come from Kaeya, especially if all these theories hold up and we see others follow the same path.
