Earlier this month, Genshin Impact got another new character, Raiden Shogun. Most players seemed to like her, but there is one group who is absolutely infuriated, claiming that they were sorely misled as to how Raiden would work with an existing playable character. They’re so upset that they’ve made claims to sue MiHoYo over it.

For context, the compatibility between characters in Genshin Impact is an important part of combat. Elemental abilities of the same kind can be combined for powerful effects, and using two or more characters of the same element also has special bonuses.

During the beta test, players saw that Raiden had electric abilities. Therefore, they assumed that Raiden would pair well with Beidou, seeing as how Beidou uses the same element. Because they made this assumption, players spent money trying to get Raiden, assuming it would pay off in the end.

As it turns out, upon Raiden’s release, her moves had zero effect on Beidou’s abilities, enraging some that participated in the beta and spent money to get her. While this understandably caused a negative response, a beta is designed to test out mechanics, not promise players what they will recieve in the future.

Several players were upset enough about this to threaten to sue. One player posted an image of their law license on miHoYo’s official boards while complaining. Another directly threatened to sue miHoYo for fraud on a different platform. It's not clear whether these fans plan to follow through on their threats, though it's likely that they will not let up with the complaints any time soon.

In other Genshin Impact news, we recently saw the divine princess, Sangonomiya Kokomi, make her debut. Through this, we got to see Kokomi's water-based abilities that can summon jellyfish. The jellyfish can both heal Kokomi and take out her enemies, dealing Hydro damage as they go. However, the new trailer for Kokomi focuses less on her combat abilities and more on the conflict within her storyline.
