Original Resin is an in-game currency used within Genshin Impact to obtain rewards from Domains (via Petrified Trees), Ley Line Blossoms, and Boss fights (Trounce Blossoms). The Resin system has often been criticized by players for its limitations, and for the way in which players are able to easily empty their stores of Original Resin in a short amount of time.

Whilst Original Resin is automatically regenerated over time, there are also other ways to refill your stores without waiting. Here's everything you need to know about Original and Fragile Resin, the differences, and how to refill your supply.

Uses For Original Resin

Original Resin is needed for players to obtain rewards from Ley Line Blossoms, Petrified Trees - located in Domains - and Trounce Blossoms, which are found in Elite and Weekly boss fights.

  • Ley Line Blossoms cost 20 Resin
  • Petrified Trees cost 20 Resin
  • Elite Bosses cost 40 Resin
  • Weekly Bosses cost 60 Resin

Players can complete these tasks without claiming the rewards but unless you're helping a friend that's unlikely. If you're trying to complete several tasks in one sitting, you can often find yourself doing the math to make sure you prioritize Resin spending. However, there are multiple ways to refill your Original Resin if you find yourself running low.

Automatic Regeneration - Time

Genshin Impact Resin Refill

One of the simplest and surest ways of refilling Original Resin is still to simply wait for it to refill naturally!

  • Original Resin regenerates at a rate of one unit per eight minutes.

If you're out of Resin and don't want to exchange any Fragile Resin or Primogems, taking a break and focusing on something else for a little while may be your best option.

  • To obtain total regeneration (which is capped at 160) it will take just over 21 hours.

Regeneration begins the second your Original Resin is below the cap and is continuously accumulating until capped, regardless of if you are logged in or not.

Condensed Resin

Condensed Resin is a crafted Resin that can be used to claim twice the amount of rewards from Ley Line Blossoms and Domains, and is as such a highly rarified currency. Previously players were only allowed to carry three Condensed Resin at a time, however, following the 1.4 version update of Genshin Impact you can now carry up to five Condensed Resin at one time.

The recipe to craft Condensed Resin is obtained by reaching the third reputation level in Liyue. It requires a Crystal Core, 40 Original Resin, and 100 Mora to make. To unlock Liyue reputation players will already need to be Adventure Rank 25 and have completed the Archon quest Chapter 1: Act 11 "Farewell, Archaic Lord".

Once you have this recipe, you can craft Condensed Resin when you know you won't have time to use all your Original Resin. Having Condensed Resin doesn't affect your Original Resin regeneration or its limit of 160. This means you can then exit the game, allowing the Original Resin to refill, and have extra Resin available next time for a longer session of grinding.

Manual Regeneration - Fragile Resin

If you find yourself out of Original Resin and need an instant fix, try converting your Fragile Resin! Players can quickly top up 60 Original Resin by trading in just one piece of Fragile Resin, but seeing how limited it is as a resource you may want to consider this carefully.

Players' Resin stocks can be viewed on the top of the map screen, but don't worry if you aren't paying attention to your Resin stocks because the game will prompt you to replenish when you're empty. Just make sure you don't button-mash your way into spending Fragile Resin you want to save, as the prompt can come up quite quickly!

How To Obtain Fragile Resin

Genshin Impact Resin Refill

Fragile Resin is obtained by players at certain level milestones throughout Genshin Impact as an Adventure Rank reward.

  • 1 Fragile Resin Awarded: Ranks 12, 14, 16, 18, 20-24, 26, 28
  • 2 Fragile Resin Awarded: Ranks 25, 27, 29-49

Another fun way to obtain Fragile Resin is to celebrate your birthday in-game. Players who eat their Cake For Traveler item will be rewarded with Fragile Resin - so make sure to log in on your birthday!

Manual Regeneration - Primogems

Primogems can also be used up to six times a day to convert into Original Resin that can take you over your daily cap, but players should beware that this occurs on a scaling rate of diminishing returns.

Players' first manual refill of the day using Primogems will only cost them 50 gems and garner around 60 Original Resin at a rate of 1.2 Resin per Primogem. However, by the time of the sixth refill, it will be a costly 200 gems, and will return Resin at a much lower rate of 0.45 per Primogem.

Whilst this means you can up your daily quota of Original Resin to around 2000 points, it is an expensive option and most players tend to save Primogems for those all-important Wishes.
