At certain levels, Hu Tao will need to be ascended in order to level further. In order to ascend her, you'll need the right gems and items, as well as a bit of Mora. The gemstone required for Hu Tao's ascension is Agnidus Agate, because she has a Pyro Vision. These can be obtained by defeating the Pyro Hypostasis, Pyro Regisvine, and others.

Here are the gemstones you'll need in total from level 1 to the final ascension at level 80:

Agnidus Agate Sliver

Agnidus Agate Fragment

9

Every character uses a certain enemy drop to ascend. Hu Tao's are the different types of nectar dropped by Whopperflowers. You'll also need some Juvenile Jade, which is a item dropped by the Primo Geovishap. Check out our guide for help with this boss fight. Silk Flowers are Hu Tao's ascension plant, and of course you'll need some Mora. Here's what you need in total:

Whopperflower Nectar

Shimmering Nectar

30

Energy Nectar

Whopperflowers are found basically everywhere, so you shouldn't have too much trouble farming the nectar. They can often be found "disguised" as a plant and will jump out to attack you when you pick said plant. Those that aren't hidden in this manner can be tracked by selecting them in the Adventurer Handbook.

The Silk Flowers will only spawn in Liyue, but you can grow them in your Serenitea Pot. They're mainly found around Liyue Harbor, specifically near Yujing Terrace. There are a few Silk Flower plants that grow outside of Wangshu Inn, as well. You can also purchase them from Ms. Bai in Qingce Village or Verr Goldet at the Wangshu Inn.
