World bosses are an integral part of Genshin Impact since they provide the items required to upgrade characters, artifacts, and many other items. These bosses can be found in every region, and there's usually a specific way to defeat them without losing all the characters in your party.

Iniquitous Baptist was released alongside the northern Sumeru Desert areas in the Version 3.6 update, and he looks similar to the Abyss Heralds and Lectors that can be found in the game. You'll have to learn the boss mechanics if you want to fight this boss since it's quite hard.

How To Reach Iniquitous Baptist

Genshin Impact Map With Iniquitous Baptist

The process to reach Iniquitous Baptist is as hard as defeating him since he's located in the northernmost part of the Sumeru Desert. If you've just started playing Genshin Impact, you'll spawn in Mondstadt, the city of freedom. You'll have to get through Liyue and Sumeru Rainforest before you can reach the Desert.

The boss will be revealed when you activate the Statue of the Seven in the Gavireh Lajavard area. Three Teleport Waypoints will be visible around the boss, and one of them will be underground. To get to the boss quickly, you can teleport to either of the surface Waypoints below the boss' icon.

If you teleport to the Waypoint just below the boss, you'll have to go down to the path leading inside the cave.

On the other hand, if you teleport to the Waypoint to the bottom right, you can simply run to the visible cave.

Genshin Impact Cave Entry North Desert

The area has two paths leading into different caves, and you have to go to the left one to reach the Iniquitous Baptist boss. This area will also have one Plume of Purifying Light, and you'll go through here during the main World Quest of this area as well. You won't see the boss on the field even when you get close.

How To Defeat Iniquitous Baptist

Genshin Impact Elemental Crystals Near Baptist Boss

Instead of the boss, you'll see three floating elemental orbs in the arena. These are the elements you'll be dealing with during the fight, so the first order of the business is to use elements that are good against them. Here are the elements you can have on your characters for each element from the boss:

Boss Element

Elements You Can Use

Electro

Pyro, Cryo, or Dendro

Pyro

Hydro, Cryo, or Electro

Hydro

Cryo or Pyro

Cryo

Pyro

Apart from specific elements, Geo performs well against all the elements that the boss can have.

You won't get rid of his shields as quickly, but it can perform as an all-rounder element.

As soon as you get close to the orbs in the arena, the boss will appear and begin his first phase. In this phase, he'll put three elemental crystals on the ground around him and each of them will have one of the elements from the orbs before. After a few seconds, the crystals will have a circular line surrounding them.

There can be two outcomes of this phase:

  • If you remove all three crystals before the lines make a complete circle around the crystals, the boss will go into a weakened state for a few seconds. You can deal a ton of damage during this time and you won't have to worry about taking damage.
  • In case you're unable to remove all the crystals in time, they'll instantly explode and deal massive damage to your active character. This damage depends on the number of crystals left on the battlefield.

After the first phase, the boss will constantly get an elemental shield belonging to one of the three elements. You can only damage him if you get rid of the shield, and he'll get another one belonging to the next element in a couple of seconds. You have a small window to deal damage to the boss during this.

It's recommended to use characters that can deal heavy damage quickly like Hu Tao or Raiden Shogun.

This will allow you to make the most out of the small attack window in between shields.

Iniquitous Baptist Attack Pattern

Genshin Impact Baptist Changing Shields

Apart from the damage dealt by the crystals in the first phase, Iniquitous Baptist still has a ton of attacks that he performs when he has an elemental shield. You'll only see some of these attacks on a certain element, while the others are shared between different elements. Here's what you can expect:

Attack Name

Description

Orb Attack

The boss will sometimes send a set of three orbs out of one of his hands. These orbs will rapidly move to your character and deal damage if they hit. Moreover, they'll also stay on the ground for a little while after touching.

Spear Attack

This attack is mostly seen when the boss has an Electro shield. He'll spawn two spears on both sides of his body and throw them at you one at a time. These spears move very slowly and they're very easy to dodge.

Though they deal a great amount of damage if you're not able to dodge them.

Ray Attack

Out of all attacks from the Iniquitous Baptist, this one is the hardest to dodge. After a little charge-up, the boss will quickly shoot a ray that'll reach your character within a frame.

Elemental Rocks

Usually seen in the Pyro and Hydro shield, the boss will spawn some rocks or bubbles from the ground near him. He'll shoot them at you one at a time, but this attack is quite easy to dodge since they're slow.

Geyser Attack

As the name suggests, this can only be seen during the Pyro shield. In this attack, the Baptist will spawn five to six circles on the ground beneath you. After a second, these circles will erupt and deal damage to the characters above them.

Slash Attack

During the Hydro and Cryo shield, the boss can do the slash attack where he throws waves of the respective element to you. There will be three sets of waves thrown at you, and the third one will contain two waves in a cross pattern.

Cryo Shield

During the Cryo phase, the Baptist can cover himself in a barrier for a second before exploding it and dealing damage to the characters nearby.

Element Change

The boss gets another shield a few seconds after you destroy one, but he can also replace the shield himself. After being in one elemental shield for a while, he'll form two elemental orbs near him and send rays of that element in them.

When this animation ends, the boss will have a different shield.

Since most of the above attacks are ranged, the boss also has a teleportation ability if you're too close to him.

Much like a Mirror Maiden, he'll go through a portal and emerge farther away from you.

How To Get Evergloom Ring

Genshin Impact Trounce Blossom From Iniqiutous Baptist

Each World Boss in Genshin Impact has a special item that can only be acquired by fighting the boss. Once you defeat the Iniquitous Baptist, a Trounce Blossom will spawn on the battlefield. This looks like a giant flower that comes out of the ground with a chest icon on it.

You'll need 40 Original Resin to revitalize this flower and claim the rewards. A screen showing all the rewards will pop up after you spend the resin on it. You can get one to three Evergloom Rings from one blossom based on your world level and luck. Though the boss respawns four minutes after you start the battle with it.

You can only use Original Resin to revitalize the Trounce Blossom from the World Boss, so don't condense your resin.

This can be a little counter-intuitive since it takes 40 Original Resin to make one Condensed as well.
