It's no big surprise for a game to have a manga or coming series, but players may want to pay extra attention to the one for Genshin Impact. The manga for the series is available free online to read at any time and is packed full of information that makes the game's story much darker and much more interesting.

In many ways, the manga is responsible for changing a reader's whole outlook on Teyvat, the Fatuie, and the upcoming story content. The manga is written in a mature fashion and delves into the series' past before the Traveler arrives in Mondstadt with Paimon.

10 It is Canon

Yes, the manga is canon and will likely be important to the story of the game. Every chapter of the manga lays the foundation for some very interesting story points later in the game and fills in a lot of mysteries present in the game, as well as helps the reader better understand both the Knights and Fatui.

If the manga is anything to go off of, the story of Genshin Impact is likely going to get very dark.

9 It Shows Old Mondstadt

barbatos venti

The prologue for the manga takes players back even further as it shows the origin of the city of freedom. Venti plays a major part in freeing the city, as does Venessa, a knight mentioned by Jean, who was originally captured along with her family by the ruling family.

The story shows how Venti grew disgusted with the state of the city and used his powers to help take it back and free the citizens.

8 It Shows Young Diluc

Genshin Impact, Diluc

Diluc is a major character in the manga, and it shows his dark backstory. Diluc's coming of age party is briefly shown, along with the moment he left the knights. Diluc is shown in several alternate outfits and with several different personalities depending on his current status.

His Dark Knight form is also shown off several times, and it's revealed that he holds unusual powers.

7 It Shows More About Delusions

Delusions are briefly touched on in the game, especially for those who have fought Childe or read his story entry. Delusions are essentially fake visions made by the Fatui that have a chance of killing their owner. This is shown in a story segment that shows the moment that Diluc's father was killed.

The scene shows that while delusions are more powerful than visions, they are incredibly unstable.

6 It Sheds More Light on the Fatui

Fatui Diplomat in Mondstadt Genshin Impact

The Fatui already aren't shown in a great light within the game, but the manga really shows their true colors. The Fatui shown in the manga are nothing short of twisted. They come to Mondstadt, offering to make a treaty with them in exchange for some of their younger citizens.

As it turns out, the Fatui regularly recruit young men and women, only for them to never be seen again.

5 It Puts Amber in a Better Light

Amber gets a lot of hate due to her less than perfect skills in battle. The manga helps to flesh out the character by showing that she is made for scouting and is not equipped to take on monsters. Amber is a major part of the manga and may just have the best heart out of all the knights.

Amber is more than happy to help the citizens within the walls and go out of her way to help a lost child.

4 Dotorre is Introduced

Genshin impact Manga Dottorre

One of the eleven harbingers is introduced in the manga. The harbinger is Dottore, a man who makes Childe look completely innocent in comparison. Dottore is a cruel man who experiments on others. He is shown to have little regard for the life of others, even if they work for him.

Dottore is easily the most corrupt member of the Fatui that has been seen so far, and it's doubtful anyone would want him on their team.

3 Kaeya is Given More Personality

Kaeya is hard to gauge in the game as his personality seems to be a little bit sadistic. This is shown even more in the manga as he is the cruelest member of the knights. He is more than happy to kill off a threat to the city instead of trying to work things out like Amber or Jean.

Kaeya also seems to enjoy picking on Diluc, even stating that the two have an incredibly similar personality.

2 Collei is Introduced

Collei Genshin Impact Manga

Collei is one of the most interesting characters to be shown in the manga. Collei is a young girl who was experimented on by the Fatui. She is unable to control the power inside of her, leading her to commit murder. This deeply troubles her leading her to let herself almost be killed by Kaeya.

Collei is saved in the manga and currently resides in the dendro region of Sumeru.

1 Archon Infusion is Introduced

The human experimentation that was done on Collei showed her being infused with archon residue. The residue was too powerful for her body, leading her to lose herself to the dark power. This experiment sheds a little bit more light on why the Fatui may be trying to collect the power of the Seven.

Collei will likely reappear in the story, and it's doubtful that she is the only one used in this experiment.
