There are many things that don't make sense in Genshin Impact especially if one is more focused on the various activities to complete in the game. Throughout all the distractions, it's easy to suspend disbelief at some of the characters and their origins or appearances. Now, perhaps the most unbelievable of such cases is the wolf-boy Razor who is a fan favorite among free-to-play players, as he rivals 5-star DPS characters in terms of damage.

Razor, for that matter, is a character with many intricacies despite having a simple façade. Many things about him were often left out or never explained in favor of the cool wolf-boy characterization. So what we're left with are questions as to how and why Razor is and how he came to be. All we know is that he hits hard and fast and that we haven't questioned it until now.

10 His Name

Razor Psing

Apparently, it was former Knights of Favonius Grandmaster Varka who spotted Razor in the wilderness of Wolvendom. He then made many attempts to look after the wolf-boy and to rehabilitate him and absorb him back into Mondstadt's society.

For that to happen, he had to give a name to the boy and he chose "Razor" out of all things. Perhaps it was Razor's teeth's most defining feature or maybe Romulus or Remus was too derivative and overused. In any case, no one's complaining with such a cool name.

9 Raised By Wolves

Wolf Comforting Razor

The whole "raised by wolves" shtick is a tale as old as time and is the stuff of mythology. However, most sane humans know by now that 10 times out of 10, humans are just tastier and healthier dog food for wolves. Also, with how hostile Genshin Impact's animals are, even Razor wouldn't have been spared.

Something as seemingly harmless as a pig or a boar can attack at a moment's notice. Besides, what were the chances of Razor receiving the proper nutrients as a human being which is different compared to that of a wolf's? Then again, Genshin Impact is an anime game, so there.

8 How Does He Not Know Klee's Name?

klee genshin impact

Klee, as it would seem, is Razor's favorite friend or human being seeing as both of them are murderous and go by instinct most of the time. Klee knows Razor's name and even loves to play with his spiky hair but Razor doesn't seem to remember Klee's.

Sure, Razor has trouble remembering the concept of human names since he's raised in a pack but he was already being absorbed in the Knights of Favonius when he met Klee and already knew Lisa by name. That's why it was odd that he described Klee to the traveler by appearance.

7 Where'd He Get His Clothes?

Razor Thinkinh

Much of Razor's human etiquette was all thanks to the efforts of the Knights of Favonius. Grandmaster Varka trained him a bit to fight like humans even though that didn't seem like the most logical priority. He also could have given Razor his clothes but in that case, maybe something more Mondstadtian would have sufficed?

All Razor got was a useless hoodie, some pants, and some boots. Everything else is animal skin and decorations made out of wolf parts. With how agile and ferocious he is, those clothes should have been more tattered. That is unless he gets a constant supply of fresh customized apparel from Mondstadt.

6 Giving Razor A Claymore

Razor protecting the Traveler.

When Grandmaster Varka of the Knights of Favonius started training Razor to become a human, he thought teaching Razor how to fight was more important than social skills. So he gave him a claymore and taught him to be the most violent 4-star character in Genshin Impact.

Now he's running around as a DPS out-damaging some 5-star characters with an oversized hunk of metal. Because that's how you reintegrate a wild child into society; you give him a claymore and teach him to kill better. At the very least, he could have given Razor a regular sword.

5 He Probably Doesn't Need A Claymore

Then again, Razor probably doesn't even need all those weapons. He was already chosen by the gods to get a vision thanks to an unfortunate event. Seeing as how he can easily channel some electro-wolf spirit, then it's fair to assume that Razor doesn't need the blade.

His claws and teeth were already sharp enough; how else could he have survived with wolves, hunting and killing his own herbivore prey? Sure, the claymore/greatsword is awesome for aesthetics, but Razor's electro wolf is powerful enough already.

4 Why Can't He Eat Raw Meat?

Razor in Liyue

In order to keep up with his fanged and pawed wolf brethren, Razor had to adjust his digestive preferences. Hence, he was able to eat raw meat and live off biting and chewing chunks of any animal he's hunted.

Based on the in-game dialogue, his favorites are boar and rabbit. While he has been slowly getting rehabilitated, such a digestive fortitude would have been useful in gameplay. In theory, Razor should be a unique character able to gain health or benefits from eating raw meat. Sadly, that's not the case.

3 Eating Wolfhook

Additionally, another thing that defies Razor's own isolated logic is his favoritism towards a certain plant or berry called Wolfhook. Based on Razor's character text in the game, he has a dislike for anything that his prey eats.

Yet, he eats tons of Wolfhook, especially for ascensions. He even requires a worrying amount of them past AR 40. Based on Razor's food preference, Wolfhook should have been off the table if he's looking to maximize his ascension strength. It should have been boar meat.

2 Forcing Him To Eat Vegetables

The list of food that's being fed to Razor which he doesn't like just growing, doesn't it? Razor himself has made it clear that he doesn't like plants nor vegetables. He's pretty carnivorous. So it's surprising that players are able to force-feed him some Barbatos Ratatouille while he's scaling some cliffs.

Razor should have rejected such offerings no matter how good they are based on his food philosophy. Then again, maybe that's one of the perks of his being introduced to civilization and society. No more picky eating.

1 How Did Razor Not Know He Isn't A Wolf?

Razor with Wolf Ultimate.

Based on Razor's story, he only started questioning his species after meeting Grandmaster Varka who looks like him in terms of physical appearance. Before that, Razor thought he was a wolf even though he could see his hands and his lack of two other legs.

Even not relying on sight, Razor should have known based on his physical capacity that he's no wolf. Even so, it was probably too late for that as he's already started being a good boy and howling long before he could recognize his hairlessness relative to wolves.
