Genshin Impact is frequently updated and this shows no signs of slowing down. Mihuyo's latest Livestream has given us all the details about the next update, titled Shadows Amidst The Sandstorm. This update has not yet got a release date but is likely to be dropped on or around November 23, when HuTao's current re-run banner expires.

Shadows Amidst The Sandstorm Livestream Announcements
The next update will be bringing two new characters to the game. Gorou has previously been introduced to us during the Archon storyline where he led the resistance into battle. He's younger than many of the troops he leads, yet he commands their respect. He's a four-star Geo Bow user who appears to be a strong support character. He shows the locations of materials in Inazuma on the map as a passive skill and has some strong abilities. He buffs all Geo characters in your party and has a strong AOE attack that transfers to different characters. He appears to be designed to compliment Arataki Itto perfectly.
Arataki Itto is an oni, leader of his own gang, the Arakati Gang. He's been known to literally take candy from children and has a charism that he uses to stay on top, always. Arataki Itto is a five-star Geo Claymore user who has been captivating the community since he was announced. He is strength and defense-based and has some stamina-reducing moves alongside some very powerful attacks. His skills allow him to build a high resistance against counter-attacks and he also has an Ushi that functions similarly to Xinglang's Gouba. It can tank enemies, allowing Itto to take them out easily. His passive bonus allows him to collect extra wood from trees.
For the first time, two limited-time banners will be run in the first phase of the update. Albedo and Eula's re-runs will be released at the same time. Whichever banner you pull on your wishes will go on the same pity counter, so you can build up pity across both banners. More details for this are coming closer to the time of release.
The weapon banner contains a new five-star Claymore. There are also two new artifact sets; Husk of Opulent Dreams, a defense-based set, and the Ocean-Hued Clam, a healing-based set.
In terms of story quests, there will be a story quest for Itto called Taurus Iracundus. Gorou and Beidou will also receive hangout events. There's also a new open-world boss, the Golden Wolflord, a recurring boss on Watatsumi island. It has a stamina-draining mechanic and a shield ability. The wolf's geo resistance also decreases towards the end of the fight as its damage increases.
Several events were also announced. The first takes place in Dragonspine and is called Shadows Amidst Snowstorms. The adventurer's guild holds seasonal training, which will include known faces like Amber and Eula. You'll need to be Adventure Rank 20 so you can participate in challenges to earn game currency. The activities include agility training - which requires you to collect items quickly while traversing a course as well as tracker training - which will require you to melt ice piles. Finally, combat training camps will require you to defeat opponents while fighting an accelerated form of sheer cold. You can use buffs and scarlet quartz to gain an advantage.
There are several rewards for this event but the most interesting one is the ability to collect snowman components. You can then build a snowman with items collected during the event. Some of these can even be traded with friends. Building snowmen also yields rewards for players. The snowmen are permanent and can be built elsewhere after the event is open, so this means you can have snowmen in your Serenitea Pot. Speaking of your Teapot, you'll also be able to invite Piamon once the update is live.
Another unique upcoming event is Bantan Sango Case Files: The Warrior Dog. Players will be tasked with finding missing dogs across Inazuma. You'll need to use a net to round up the animals, often freeing them from cages in treasure hunter camps. After the event, you can complete a quest to gain a permanent net that will allow you to increase the number of animals in your Serenitea Pot.
There are also several returning events. Energy Amplifier Fruition requires you to defeat enemies in specific areas and claim rewards. Once this is completed there is a domain-based event that sees you use the buffs to defeat challenges. Misty Dungeon: Realm of Light sees the return of dungeon challenges. You'll use trial characters to complete dungeon trials and locate the three runes. These will unlock the final challenge that grants rewards. Finally, Liben will also return with his Marvellous Merchandise.
