Genshin Impact is starting to get a wide array of five-star characters. Luckily, Mihoyo has done a stellar job at ensuring that every character has their own distinct personality. Venti is the anemo archon, and the first character players will come across when starting the game. He is currently using a mortal form and makes his living as a bard who tells the tales of the battles he's pursued and of his friends' challenges.

Despite his role as an archon though, Venti is incredibly free-spirited in nature, loves to spend his time drinking, and has a very laidback personality.

Updated June 14, 2021 by Jessica Thomas: One of the very first characters you meet when starting Genshin Impact is Venti. Venti, also known as Barbatos, is the Anemo Archon who has been watching over Mondstadt for thousands of years. Despite his status, he lives as a simple bard and loves to roam around the city playing songs. Venti does step in to help the citizens when they are truly in need, though, but he only entrusts his true identity to those that he can trust. There are a lot of fun facts about Venti in the game for you to learn about. Keep reading below to learn what Venti's favorite food is and a bit about his thoughts on cats.

14 He Gives Love Advice

Venti and KAeya in Windblume Story Quest

During the Windblume event, Venti decided he would help out the citizens of Mondstadt and give some love advice. Some of his patrons included the innocent Bennett and the more devious  Kaeya, who could find nothing better to do during the event than try and cause trouble.

While Venti has never been shown to have indulged in romance himself, he seems pretty knowledgeable about the process.

13 He Saved Xiao

Xiao and Venti

Even though they are connected to different regions, Venti and Xiao share a very sweet connection. Xiao almost died one night due to his negative karma but was saved by the sound of Venti playing his flute. The song was so calming that it pulled Xiao back to his senses and returned his strength.

It is heavily hinted in the official Yaksha's trailer that he will still venture off on some nights to listen to Venti play his flute.

12 Venti Doesn't Hate The Lawrence Clan

Eula-Close-Up-Genshin-Impact

Venti was deeply involved in Mondstadt's history, especially when it came to helping overthrow the Lawrence Clan. It has been quite some time since the clan fell, and Venti still sings songs about the time period when he performs around town, some of which Eula has heard.

Despite all this, Venti is quite fond of her and even wants to be drinking buddies, even one day hoping they can duet a song.

11 His Appearance Is Borrowed

Venti wasn't always the powerful Anemo Archon; he actually began his life as a simple wind spirit. One day he met a boy who wanted to see a bird, Venti sought out a feather, but when he next found him, the poor boy had been killed in the same war that transformed Venti into the Anemo Archon.

During this point in time, Venti wished to hold a lyre much like the boy and took the shape of his departed friend.

10 He Loves The Simple Things

Venti isn't exactly interested in luxury or making things complex. Even the mortal form he holds was simply chosen due to it being the same as a friend from the past. Venti would rather roam the streets of Mondstadt as a simple bard than let his true identity be known to those around him. Venti doesn't seem to be interested in mora, and the only thing he tends to splurge on are drinks.

9 He Loves Bothering Zhongli

Venti and Zhongli are the two oldest archons in Teyvat. They worked together during the war, and Venti used to visit Zhongli often. Zhongli does seem to enjoy Venti's company, but the two have polar opposite personalities. Zhongli seems to have always been the target of the anemo archons' mischief. From Zhongli's story, players can tell that the archons used to regularly get together.

8 He Wants To Write Songs For Hilichurls

Hilichurl from Genshin Impact

Venti is a bit more inclined towards Hilichurls than the rest of Mondstadt. In fact, the bard knows some Hilichurl language. Venti attends to eventually start writing songs for the Hilichurls and hopes to perform music for them, despite the fact that most people view them as evil.

Venti seems to have a way with people despite his carefree nature and may even be able to make some Hilichurl friends.

7 He Doesn't Have Much Mora

Venti certainly doesn't make a ton of mora from his work. It turns out that Venti sometimes even gets hungry but can't really afford to buy food. Purchasing alcohol is also a problem for him as drinks can quickly add up in cost. This leads him to perform songs in exchange for goods. Venti seems content trading songs for food and drinks; in fact, he even puts on special shows to entice people to donate him from time to time.

6 He Loves To Travel

Venti truly embodies the spirit of freedom. He doesn't see a point in sticking around Mondstadt or closely watching over every little thing that goes on. Venti enjoys traveling to different regions and believes that the people of Mondstadt are able to govern themselves without his interference. Venti does seem to have done less traveling within the last few years, but he is more than happy to accompany the Traveler.

5 Venti Loves Pranks

Venti Being Smart

One thing that Venti enjoys is pulling pranks on others. This may not happen much towards the citizens of Mondstadt, but when it comes to the other archons, Venti is quite mischievous. He loved trying to get a reaction out of Zhongli and even liked to tamper with the cryo archon. It's safe to say that Venti isn't really afraid of any of the other archons, though he does ask about Zhongli's strength.

4 He Is Allergic To Cats

Venti Hates Cats

Despite literally being born from the wind, being an archon, and having lived thousands of years, Venti is weak to cats. Whenever he gets around them, he can't help but start sneezing. How exactly a god can be allergic to a small mammal hasn't been explained by the game.

Venti never goes to the Cat's Tail bar, and he makes sure to only hang around places where cats don't hang out.

3 Venti's Favorite Food Is Apples

VEnti and Dvalin

Even the anemo Archon, Barbatos has a favorite food. Venti doesn't really have a complicated palette either; he is more than happy to eat food that is easy to obtain in the wild. In fact, Venti's favorite food is an apple, not sticky honey roast or Mondstadt hash browns like one would expect from a resident of the city.

Venti is thrilled to be brought or find fresh apples and prefers to eat them, even overcooked dishes.

2 Venti's Least Favorite Food Is Cheese

Strangely enough, Venti can't stand the taste of cheese. This may be due to the fact that he enjoys sweeter tastes, but he is disgusted by the product. In his voice line, he refers to cheese as being sticky and a mess, which may point to the fact that he also hates things like jam. Venti seems to even want to avoid being around the Traveler when they are consuming items with cheese on them.

1 He Knows A lot About Albedo

Albedo growing a plant on his right hand.

There has been a lot of speculation over Albedo, especially since players know that he is a danger to Mondstadt. Venti also elaborates on Albedo and admits that he may one day put the city in danger. In the same line, though, he also admits that the danger will happen by the decision of the city. It seems that even with his carefree spirit, Venti does know what's going on in his city.
