Support characters have always had a special place in Genshin Impact since you might get a better DPS in the future, but the shields and damage bonuses provided by a certain support won't be repeated. This is especially true when it comes to one of the most broken overall characters in this game, the Geo Archon.

The Best Zhongli Builds

Zhongli is a five-star Geo character using Polearm as his weapon. While his initial kit was already good, he got a giant buff soon after, which made him arguably the strongest support to have in certain situations. Thankfully, it's also quite easy to build this character.

If you've been playing Genshin Impact for a little while, you might've already heard that Zhongli's Elemental Burst has one of the highest, if not the highest multipliers in the game. At level ten, it gets nearly 900 percent damage boost based on his ATK, and it's not even the main part of his kit.

Zhongli is essentially a shielder in the game, and even with the high multiplier, you wouldn't want to expect too much damage from him unless you're using a specific build. However, he excels at protecting your characters from death while also increasing their damage at the same time.

Support Zhongli Build

Artifact Set

Archaic Petra, Tenacity of the Millelith

Weapons

Vortex Vanquisher, The Catch, Wavebreaker's Fin

If you're an F2P or low-spending player, you'll get the most value by building Zhongli as a supporting unit with the artifacts and weapons mentioned above. The former artifact set lets him buff a certain element's DMG by 35 percent if you pick up a Crystallize Shard from it, while the latter allows you to get an overall buff for your party.

You can also go for a two-piece Achaic Petra and a two-piece Retracing Bolide set to give him some shield strength, which focuses on buffing the sustainability of his kit. As for the weapon, there aren't many Polearms that can suit Zhongli's kit if you don't have his signature. However, you can still use the other two mentioned to get a bit of increased damage on the Burst.

DPS Zhongli

Artifact Set

Emblem of Severed Fate

Weapons

Staff of Homa, The Catch

Zhongli has a passive that increases his Normal Attack's, Skill's, and Burst's DMG based on his current HP, which is also the stat that scales the amount of DMG his shield can absorb. This allows him to become a semi-DPS in your party that mostly deals Burst DMG whenever you use his Elemental Burst.

This build gets a buff if you get Zhongli to constellation four since it increases the AoE and petrify effect duration.

For this build, the best weapon you can use is Staff of Homa since it gives him both HP and ATK. However, The Catch can also synergize well with the Emblem of Severed Fate set.

Artifact Stat Priority For Zhongli

The artifact stats you'd want to look for Zhongli roughly remain the same regardless of your build since you still rely on HP to increase his DMG. However, you will have to get a good Crit Ratio on him if you're going for the DPS build, which makes the two Crit stats a priority.

Zhongli Talent Priority

Being a support character, Zhongli is one of the easiest units to build in Genshin Impact since you don't need to invest a lot of resources in him. While upgrading his talents, you can first focus on his Skill to get the increased shield strength from its scaling.

This can be followed by his Elemental Burst to a maximum of level eight if you're using the support build since a bit of damage isn't too bad. You don't have to upgrade his Normal Attacks regardless of your build, and his passives automatically get unlocked when you level him up.
