A new book about former Nintendo president Satoru Iwata, called Iwata-san, has been announced and it will contain a collection of the articles he wrote for different websites as well as recollections about his life from his closest friends and work associates.

Iwata-san has been created by Yasuda Nagata of Almost Daily Itoi Newspaper, and it will be released by Hobonichi, which is a company that was founded by Shigesato Itoi of EarthBound/Mother fame. Iwata worked as the IT Manager for Hobonichi for almost a decade, even though he was still working for Nintendo at the time.

According to Ninten-SwitchIwata-san will contain seven different chapters that will combine the articles that Iwata wrote for the Hobonichi website and for the official Nintendo website. The book will also contain the Iwata-Asks interviews, where he talked to the developers of many different classic Nintendo titles and discussed the details of how those games were made.

Iwata-san will also contain a chapter written by Shigeru Miyamoto and Shigesato Itoi, where they discuss their memories of Iwata. The role of Iwata on the EarthBound/Mother series was vital, as EarthBound/Mother 2 might have been canceled if it weren't for his help, as he was a key player in ensuring that the project was finished. Iwata was also crucial to the release of both Pokémon Gold & Silver and Pokémon Stadium. Miyamoto worked with Iwata for a long time at Nintendo and his memories of their shared history might offer unique insights into Iwata's career.

Satoru Iwata passed away in 2015, but his legacy still lives on in the form of the games he contributed to and the colleagues and fans who still reminisce about him to this day. Iwata was important to the development of the EarthBound/Mother, KirbyPokémon, and the Super Smash Bros. series, as well as to the development of several Nintendo systems. Iwata's contributions to the history of the video game industry are many and his loss is still felt deeply by his fans and the staff at Nintendo.

New details about Iwata-san will be released on July 1st. There is currently no word on an international release date.
