Ghost Of Tsushima: Director's Cut has debuted at number one in the UK boxed chart as PS5 games broke up what was a very Nintendo-heavy party the week before.

It's always easy to tell when a fresh batch of PS5s has arrived in the UK. The sales of popular PS5 games go through the roof later that week. That happened last week as Game led the way, dropping new PS5 stock during the middle of last week. The top three spots in the UK's boxed chart are all occupied by PS5 games.

Ghost Of Tsushima: Director's Cut debuts at number one, the first time a new release has topped the chart since The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD more than a month ago. The repackaged PS4 game has the PS5 to thank for 91% of its sales last week. Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart comes in at number two, up eight places versus last week, while Spider-Man: Miles Morales rounds out the top three.

It's a disappointing start to life for Madden NFL 22 which only makes it to number 19, a significant drop-off in sales compared to last year's game. The chart does only take physical sales into account. Once digital sales are included the numbers might not make for as grim a reading for EA as they do right now. It's also almost a certainty the game will have performed a great deal better in the US where the NFL is obviously a lot more popular.

Marvel's Avengers' War For Wakanda update appears to have brought in a new wave of players to the struggling live service game. Physical sales of the game increased by 78% week on week resulting in the game climbing all the way back up to number 11. It remains to be seen whether a sales boost every few months when new DLC is released will be enough to allow the game to survive until the end of 2021 and beyond.

Ghost of Tsushima will have a couple of contenders attempting to stop it from making it two weeks at number one. Psychonauts 2 hits the market later this week, as does No More Heroes 3 on Nintendo Switch. The video game release slate really starts to heat up in the coming weeks, so prepare for a new game at number one every seven days from here on in.
