Ghost of Tsushima is nearing its one-year anniversary, and Sucker Punch Studios is celebrating in a big way. The studio today announced Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut – which is heading to PS5 and PS4 on August 20 and will include some brand-new DLC.

Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut comes with the base game, all currently available DLC, and the new Iki Island DLC. Sucker Punch says this is a "whole new chapter in Jin's story," and will see him investigating the island for signs of a Mongol invasion. Along the way, he'll get caught up with some mysterious forces, and will have to relive some "traumatic moments from his past."

"We’ll have more to share about the story of Iki soon, but today we can confirm that beyond a whole new story and new characters, this new island also features tons of new content including brand new environments to explore, new armor for Jin as well as his horse, new mini-games, new techniques, new enemy types, and much more," Sucker Punch announced. "There are even new animals to pet!"

As for PS5 owners, they'll see the following improvements:

  • Cutscenes in Ghost of Tsushima and on Iki Island feature lip sync for Japanese voice-over.
  • New haptic feedback and adaptive trigger responses
  • 3D Audio enhancements
  • Improved load times
  • 4K resolution and 60fps options

Even if you don't pick up the Director's Cut, all players will benefit from a new patch that includes photo mode updates, new accessibility options, and the option to "enable a target lock-on during combat." Sucker Punch also mentioned that a new game mode will be announced in the coming weeks – although little else was said about the update.

Ghost of Tsushima Directors Cut will release on August 20, retailing for $69.99 on PS5 and $59.99 on PS4.
