I'm an absolute sucker for pixel art. Sure, ray-tracing is nice and all, but there's something about the low-key aesthetic of pixel art that immediately pulls me in. Case in point – this pixelated reimagining of Ghost of Tsushima.

The adorable artwork comes from Woostar, a pixel artist who spends their spare time recreating iconic games in their adorable art style. Woostar's latest masterpiece takes Ghost of Tsushima and turns it into an animated, pixelized gif – complete with leaving billowing in the wind and an adorable fox bouncing up and down. If Sucker Punch went with this style for the actual game, it definitely would have bested The Last of Us Part 2 as Game of the Year during The Game Awards.

Ghost of Tsushima is far from the only video game to receive the pixelized makeover from Woostar. The talented creator also whipped up scenes from The Last of Us, Final Fantasy IX, and God of War – each one more adorable than the last. They even managed to make Kratos look cute, which is a true testament to their artistic abilities.

Ghost of Tsushima may not have won Game of the Year during The Game Awards 2020, but it did walk away with a trophy for Best Art Direction. Still, I think the world would benefit from a retro remake with Woostar at the helm.
