Sniper rifles have been an integral part of warfare in video games, with their users typically eliminating high-value targets as well as providing cover fire while a unit maneuvers. They're typically characterized by their extreme range capabilities and high damage output, while also requiring high skill and precision to wield.

In a tactical setting like Ghost Recon Wildlands, you may wonder what the best option for your long-range needs may be, due to the realistic gameplay. One false move could compromise the mission, so it's important to bring the right gear for the job. That being said, let's take a look at what sniper rifles are best for your needs in Ghost Recon Wildlands.

10 SR-25 Enhanced Combat Carbine

SR25

The SR-25 is located in Caimanes. It could easily be characterized by its low damage but high rate of fire due to it being converted from a semi-automatic M16. Its low damage may be uncharacteristic of the rifle class, but it's still a very lethal option in the hands of the proper marksman. You'll want to aim for headshots, as usual, but even more so when using the SR-25 as body shots aren't lethal in one hit.

It makes for an effective bit of weaponry at all ranges, due to it being highly customizable. The rifle has two unique variations: The Liberator which is included in the Special Forces Pack, and The Machinery. While its damage is low, it's highly accurate and dependable in a pinch.

9 M40A5

M40A5

The M40A5 makes for a great early to mid-game sniper, obtainable after the very first mission. It makes its way in at number nine due to its rather low damage output, but reasonable other stats such as its fire rate being at 33/100 points. It's got a great range stat, which makes it ideal for new players who aren't yet accustomed to the game's bullet drop.

This rifle serves primarily as a stepping stone leading to new snipers that require a bit more finesse to wield. While it's Noise Reduction stat is a bit low, it's very capable of stealthy takedowns and long range covering fire. The rifle is well-rounded and a great way to get into the Sniper role of your team of Ghosts.

8 SRSA1

SRSA1

This rifle is great for mid-range sniping and cover fire. It boasts the highest rate of fire in the class when it comes to the bolt action rifles. While many other weapons in the category excel in one particular stat or another, the SRSA1 is modest in all stats, making it earn its place as a well respected and dependable rifle.

It's found by heading into a tunnel in the central portion of the Mojocoyo province. The SRSA1 has two unique variants: Black Widow and the Mud and Blood.

7 G28

G28

The raw damage of this weapon is not what makes it so effective, rather, its handling and fire rate are what really shine with this rifle. It's best suited for mid-range marksmanship and rapid target acquisition thanks to its high handling stat.

Handling is responsible for how long it takes to aim and steady the rifle when preparing to fire. Having this stat so high allows for rapid follow-up shots and the ability to reposition with minimal time wasted, and no potential lives lost. All in all, the G28 is great for when stealth goes out the window, and you're forced to go loud.

6 MSR

MSR

The MSR has an amazing penetration stat along with nice accuracy, damage, and range. It's extremely deadly in the right hands and can be depended on to outperform its counterparts in nearly any scenario. Extreme range is where this rifle shines the brightest, due to it still being able to perform at the same level as some other rifles but at twice the range.

The MSR can easily be described as the older brother of the L115A3. Both stats are virtually the same, but the MSR definitely has an advantage when it comes to raw power.

5 Mk14

Mk14

The Mk14 deserves its flowers when it comes to the discussion of versatility. This beauty of a rifle is quite literally capable of any role in a team of Ghosts thanks to its highly customizable parts and jack-of-all-trades type stats. With this in mind, the wielder of this rifle has a great advantage over their adversaries in terms of positioning, thanks to its range and accuracy stats.

What it lacks in stealth capabilities, it makes up for in assault prowess. The Mk14 can be either right in the middle of the gunfire or far away in the back, providing cover, and it still manages to outshine the competition. It feels right at home, no matter what the scenario may be.

4 TAC-50

TAC-50

As another anti-material rifle making its way onto the list, the TAC-50 is an amazing platform for those looking for some long range precision kills. Carrying a modest damage stat and above average noise reduction stat, this sniper makes for a solid choice among those looking to add a few more kills under their belt from the shadows.

It also has a great penetration stat which allows for bullets to pass through thicker objects and penetrate objects with larger amounts of mass, like vehicle doors or metal walls. This allows for some great options for positioning and stylish kills when the opportunity presents itself.

3 PSG-1

PSG-1

The PSG-1 is the second of the two snipers added in the Fallen Ghosts DLC and is aesthetically one of the nicest looking snipers. Its looks aren't just for show however, because this sniper is a monster in the field. This piece of German engineering has great stats, aside from abysmal handling.

The low damage is to be expected of a semi-automatic sniper, so there's no surprise there. Its range and accuracy make it exceptional when performing at long distances, while its respectable noise reduction stat allows for effectiveness, even on high stakes stealth missions.

2 BFG-50A

BFG-50A

This rifle is one of the most fun to use when it comes to causing total chaos and absolutely demolishing targets. The BFG-50A is the only semi-automatic anti-material rifle in the game, and was added in the Fallen Ghosts DLC alongside the PSG-1. The sniper can destroy vehicles in a single shot, as well as decimate enemies at extreme distance thanks to its maxed out range stat. Naturally, the damage is also at max, along with its accuracy.

This beast of a gun also loses very little of its penetration stat when equipped with a suppressor, making it one of the most versatile platforms in the entire game. It's found by completing all three information gathering missions on Luis Rocha, but those who own the Fallen Ghosts DLC can actually gain access to this sniper in the beginning of the game.

1 Desert Tech HTI BDC

HTI

Some problems require finesse to solve. Others simply require a .50cal round straight from the barrel of this beast. This monster of a sniper rifle allows for some of - if not the - highest damaging shots in the entire game, even with all the post launch additions. This variation of the HTI is unlocked at Tier 40 in Tier One mode.

The HTI has essentially the same performance as this variant, but it comes with a nice camo, so that's always a bonus. It's arguably the best sniper in the game and is capable of destroying nearly any vehicle in one shot, helicopters included. So whenever you're up for a game of Duck Hunt, pop out the HTI and keep an eye out for those enemy choppers.
