Ghostwire: Tokyo is a game chock-full of things to do, and collectibles to find. Few are as elusive as the hidden Tanuki that star in the

"Tanuki Hunt" side quest. Brought to your attention by Boss Tanuki, it is up to Akito and KK to find and return all 25 lost Tanuki. This is easier said than done.

Tanuki are notorious hiders, and this is dialed up even further when thrown into a city under siege by all manner of ghouls and ghosts. Taking the form of inanimate objects - albeit ones with telling tails - you are going to have to wander all of Tokyo if you want to nab the sweet reward waiting at the end.

Shiroyama Tanuki

Metal Pot

This is the first Tanuki you will find, as this is the cheeky Tanuki that kickstarted the whole "Tanuki Hunt" side quest. You can find this Tanuki by heading down the stairs near Boss Tanuki and heading towards the small structure ahead of you. You will find a Tanuki disguised as a metal pot.

Torii Gate

Travel to Shiroyama Shrine and then head southwest. Use a Tengu to reach the nearby rooftop. You will see a Tanuki disguised as a small Torii Gate,

Vending Machine

Go to Shiroyama Shrine and head southeast towards the large highway. Under the highway, you will see a white truck. Beside the truck is a Tanuki disguised as a vending machine.

Akisawa Tanuki

Torii Gate

Travel to Akisawa Shrine and head west. You will come across a cat meowing next to an alley. Go into the alley, and you will find a Tanuki disguised as a small Torii Gate. You can also talk to the cat, who will tell you there's something down that alley too.

Traffic Cone

Go Akisawa Shrine and head towards Shibuya Central Hospital. On top of the hospital is a Tanuki disguised as a traffic cone. To reach this Tanuki you will have to use the nearby Tengu and hop across to the Hospital. Alternatively, you could go through the "After The End 2" side quest, which will take you to the rooftop.

Chishima Tanuki

Telephone Box

Go to Chishima Shrine and head north, following the road next to the large forest. You will eventually come across a telephone box. Opposite the telephone box, in the forest, is another telephone box. Clamber up a nearby house and hop the fence to access the forest. This telephone box is actually a Tanuki in disguise.

Hatsuike Tanuki

Red Swivel Chair

Head to Hatsuike Shrine and glide to the east towards a set of stairs leading into the forest. At the top of these stairs - viewable from the air - is a Tanuki disguised as a red swivel chair.

Hitani Tanuki

Go to Hitani Shrine and head towards the southwest border of the area. You will find a Tanuki disguised as a cup noodle next to some vending machines just north of the Dire Straights side quest.

Daruma Statue

Travel to Hitani Shrine and head west. You will come across an overpass that crosses the river. On this overpass is a Tanuki disguised as a Daruma.

Kamio Tanuki

Travel to Kamio Shrine and head southwest. You will come across Netsuke Nekomata. Cross the road near Netsuke Nekomata, and you will see a small opening in a wooden fence to your left. There is a small shrine housed within, and near that shrine, are two stacked Daruma. These Daruma are actually a Tanuki in disguise.

Kuo Tanuki

Panda

Go to Kuo Shrine and head north towards Shibuara Park. Here you will find a trio of rocking pandas. These are, in fact, just a dastardly Tanuki in disguise.

Electric Sign

There is a Tanuki disguised as an electric sign atop a tall building southeast of Kuo Shrine. To get here, you will need to grapple up the building and then climb a set of ladders.

Mikubo Tanuki

Travel to Mikubo Shrine and turn around. You will see a Tengu to grapple with, taking you to a nearby building. From here, you should be able to see a Tanuki Statue standing on top of a white vent. This is actually a Tanuki in disguise.

Morite Tanuki

Travel to Morite Shrine and head east. You will come across a very small building near the Shibuya Scramble Crossing Landmark. The satellite dish on top of this building is actually a disguised Tanuki.

Namihara Tanuki

Fast travel to Namihara and turn left. You should see a ladder (use your enhanced vision if you need more clarity). Climb the ladder, and you will find a Tanuki disguised as an electric sign near a satellite dish.

Namita Tanuki

Go to Namita shrine and use the Tengu to the west to grapple onto a nearby roof. To the east, you should see a Tanuki disguised as a Tanuki statue. If you are having trouble locating it, there is a cat nearby that will tell you there is a Tanuki on a nearby roof.

Onten Tanuki

Carboard Box

Head to Onten Shrine and make your way north. On a bench behind a store, near a telephone box, you will find a Tanuki disguised as a cardboard box.

Saihama Tanuki

Travel to Saihama Shrine and glide directly north. You will come across a Tanuki Statue behind some houses. This statue is a hidden tanuki. There's also a Jizu Statue to the left of this tanuki, so you can kill two birds with one stone here.

Shimokusa Tanuki

Tombstone

West of Shimokusa Shrine, and North of Sakano Shrine, is a graveyard. Inside this graveyard is a suspicious-looking tombstone. This is actually a Tanuki in disguise.

Tatsui Tanuki

Head to Tatsui Shrine and go southwest. Near the border of this area, you will come across two stacked Daruma under the south side of a large highway. This is a sneaky Tanuki in disguise.

Toyoi Tanuki

Travel to Toyoi Shrine and make your way west - towards the fog wall. Between two Tengu grappling points you will see a cluster of vending machines. The Tanuki is the vending machine standing at a jaunty angle.

Utagawa Shopping District Tanuki

Travel to Utagawa Shopping District and head northeast towards the river. Follow the river east, and you will come across a Tanuki disguised as a very small door.

Large Tanuki Sign

Go to Utagawa Shopping District and make your way east. You should come across a large Tanuki sign atop a building. Use a nearby Tengu to grapple to a rooftop and glide over to the sign. The sign itself is a disguised Tanuki.

Vending Machine

This Tanuki is disguised as a vending machine and can be found by heading south of the Utagawa Shopping District. You will come across the Sengoku Centre Building, and down by a nearby alley, you will find the Tanuki. There will also be a dog who will mention a Tanuki being nearby.

Yashin Tanuki

Cardboard Cutout

Go to Yashin Shrine and use the nearby elevator to get to ground level. Head west to leave the construction yard, and you will come across a cardboard cutout of a builder. This is actually a Tanuki in disguise.

Additional Rewards For Collecting Tanuki

Ghostwire Tokyo Akito in a tanuki suit

Collecting Tanuki will reward Akito with a new emote to use when messing around with the Photo Mode. These don't provide much gameplay incentive to hunt them down, however, every five Tanuki found will grant a permanent passive bonus called a Charm. Charms don't need to be equipped, unlike Prayer Beads.

In addition to these powerful bonuses, collecting all 25 Tanuki and returning to Boss Tanuki will reward Akito with the Tanuki Suit - which is adorable as it is hilarious. Oh, and yes, it does turn your hands into big fluffy mits making combat significantly more amusing.
