Ethereal Weavings are the magic powers that you’ll be using all the time in Ghostwire: Tokyo. There are three different types of Weavings: Wind, Water, and Fire. Each one of them has its unique attacks and charged attacks, with varying properties and utilities.

You’ll unlock each element during your regular playthrough (they are story related and can’t be missed). In this guide, we’ll go after each one of these, telling you what they do, their pros and cons, and how to find them. Be ready to become the best yokai fighter in Ghostwire: Tokyo!

Your Magic Assault Rifle — Wind Weaving

Using Ethereal Weaving against a Visitor.

This is the first elemental magic you’ll unlock as soon as the game starts. After the strange fog that vanishes all the human beings in the city, you’ll meet KK, a spirit that will grant you magic powers — the first being Wind Weaving.

Wind Weaving is your default weapon and perhaps the one you’ll use the most. You throw air projectiles with this, and if you charge the attack, you can make one ball hit more than once. This is a perfect Weaving for both close-range and long-distance attacks. It’s also the one with the most amount of SP (the magic unit you spend with each attack) you’ll have.

You can upgrade two features of this attack: its charge property and its speed. One projectile can hit one enemy up to three times, and you can turn this magic into a submachine gun with the other upgrade.

We Need Fire, Lots Of Fire — Fire Weaving

Charging a firebomb.

If you like sniping or big explosions, Fire Weaving will be your favorite magic. Its basic attack works as a short-range sniper rifle because it shoots a fire lance that can reach long distances pretty fast. On the other hand, if you charge the attack, you’ll create a firebomb. This projectile will explode on target or while hitting a surface (like the floor or a wall) and create an explosion radius, dealing area damage.

Besides the Prayer Beads and the upgrades you use, Fire Weaving will be your strongest magic. It’s excellent for any situation and can take enemies pretty fast, or at least create space when you’re surrounded. However, it’s the one with the least amount of SP, so you’ll be running out of it pretty quickly. Choose your targets sensibly.

Fire Weaving can be upgraded, making its fire lances go through more than one Visitor, which is great against group battles. Also, its explosion radius can be bigger and clean waves of nearby enemies without much problem.

How To Unlock The Fire Weaving

A fire sphere in a shrine.

During the main mission A Maze of Death in Chapter 2: Trouble, you’ll have to clean three torii gates at the south of where you are. They are inside a park, with Visitors crawling around.

Once you clean the enemies, go to the torii gate in the middle. This one has an Offering Box, an item that can heal you or give you a tip for some meika. Inside this shrine, you’ll find a fire sphere that will give you the Fire Weaving.

Water In Games Can Be Fun — Water Weaving

Using the Water Weaving.

At first, it might feel like a weak and useless magic. However, as you upgrade it and equip related Prayer Beads, you’ll find that the Water Weaving can aid you in some critical situations.

Its basic and charged attacks are the same: a blue wave that hits mostly nearby Visitors. However, the second one can reach longer distances and increase its base damage, which can be incredibly powerful when you have enemies (and even bosses) right in front of you. Despite being the weakest Weaving of the three, you’ll use it more than the fire one because you’ll have more SP.

The reach and length of the wave can be upgraded at the 'Skills' menu.

How To Unlock The Water Weaving

A water sphere inside a shrine.

After acquiring the Fire Weaving, you’ll need to clean the Yashin Torii Gate as part of the main mission. This will be located on the ground level, at a construction site. However, as you’re about to clean the gate and pick up the sphere, beware of a new Visitor, Kuchisake, that will attack you out of nowhere.

The Kuchisake is a strong enemy that wields scissors in one hand. Give her everything you got, especially fire attacks, because she can resist a lot of damage and is super aggressive against you.

Once you deal with her, the blue sphere will be waiting for you.

Bonus — How To Unlock The Magic Bow

A bow inside a suitcase.

Before getting the Fire Weaving, you’ll unlock a magic bow during the initial moments of Chapter 2. It will be in a suitcase in KK's department, and he’ll ask you to grab it.

The bow is thought of as a stealth weapon because it won’t alert enemies while you’re taking them out — unless, well, you let the attacked target live. However, its base damage, which can be boosted with Prayer Beads, is actually pretty strong, exterminating a number of Visitors with only one charged shot. Definitely, a weapon to keep in mind.

Arrows can be purchased at any convenience store for 300 meika. Plus, they can be found around places.
