GlitchCon was held this weekend in lieu of TwitchCon 2020, but the new event still managed to put up some impressive numbers. More than 6.7 million people tuned in to watch the inaugural GlitchCon and maxed out with over 175K concurrent viewers.

The night started with an address from Twitch CEO, Emmett Shear, before passing the torch to top gamers, celebrities, and streamers. Included in the event were Zedd, JERICHO, Pokimane, and even T-Pain, who hosted a virtual afterparty.

A lot happened during GlitchCon, but here are a few highlights if you missed out:

  • Twitch donated $1 million to AbleGamers, a non-profit that provides custom gaming setups to people with disabilities
  • Several streamers were surprised with their official Twitch Partnership announcement – including MiladyConfetti
  • Matt Heafy saw just under 90K viewers watch is live metal performance
  • Juliaaaeasttt won the Austin Talent Show, while MattZara took home the KennyBeats breats battle

A bunch of new stats about Twitch were also shared during the event:

  • Every month more than 1.5 billion hours of content is watched on Twitch
  • More than 13 million people streamed on Twitch for the first time
  • 8,550 streamers became Twitch Partners this year
  • Added 548,000 Affiliates this year
  • Over 850K creators make revenue from Commerce or Ads on Twitch each month
  • The number of streamers who make money on Twitch doubled from 2019

There's no doubt GlitchCon was a resounding success, and we're curious to see what 2021 has in store for the platform.
