God of War first came onto the scene late into the PS2's lifespan, quickly establishing itself as one of Sony's greatest first party franchises. After a short hiatus following the disappointing God of War: Ascension, the series came back with vengeance in 2018 with the fourth mainline entry, God of War.

The gameplay and narrative felt totally different, yet simultaneously reminded gamers why they love Kratos. Since fans have had more than a decade to think about this series, they've found some logical gaps in the world, which they have turned into memes for everybody's enjoyment. While the points brought up in the 10 memes below make us scratch our heads, they do not make these games any worse.

10 They Got Strong Wings

Valkyries are optional bosses and some of the toughest bouts in the 2018 title. They were corrupted by some force and Kratos must defeat them. This meme questions why the powerful warrior cannot block some of their attacks. After killing Zeus, one would think these adversaries would be a piece of cake. Then again, Kratos is out of practice and perhaps the Valkyries really are that powerful.

9 God Of Whoopee

Take your kids out of the room for this one. However, any parent who lets their child watch Kratos eviscerate adversaries in unimaginably violent ways is probably not too upset by the game's carnal content. Those familiar with the minigame know exactly how Atreus was made.

As funny of a meme this is, we are glad the most recent game didn't include a similar segment. For one, it is a childish diversion. Secondly, it would be awkward asking the child to wait outside.

8 How Do Normal People Get Around

Many doors in Ancient Greece require a hefty dose of elbow grease to open. How are normal citizens going about their everyday lives maneuvering past these obstacles? Does everybody have the ability to lift these giant doors up or is there a special job for strong people to hold these while citizens are on their commute? If the latter is true, we just hope they receive good tips. Lifting up so much weight for a whole work day cannot be healthy.

7 The Name Game

The 2018 title is the fourth mainline God of War, yet it is simply titled God of War. Not only will it certainly confuse historians thousands of years into the future, but fans today are in contention regarding how to properly call the game.

It is such a shame a fan base with a mutual love has to argue about semantics, but it is the game's fault for giving it such a confusing title. Things are gonna get even weirder if the sequel is called God of War II. Thankfully, sequels can mix it up by calling it Part Two or The Second Chapter.

6 The Chests

While this meme brings up a good point, there are several potential explanations for why even Kratos has so much trouble opening treasure chests despite having killed gods without breaking a sweat. Perhaps the cover is sealed by a special magic, or the material is so dense, few can open it with ease. After all, these chests are often in plain sight, so its best protection is the difficulty lifting the top. Kratos could also just be feigning the struggle for dramatic effect. It wouldn't look as cool if he could flick it open with his pinky.

5 He Really Likes Saying Boy

The new game leaves many mysteries up in the air for future titles to explore. One thing is for certain by the end credits, however; Kratos sure loves yelling out the word "boy." Atreus probably isn't the most comfortable with this, especially since it is not exactly used as a term of endearment. Kratos uses it so much, players start to think he cannot remember his son's real name.

4 It Is Thick Wood

Plenty of things are done for the sake of gameplay in God of War, even if they don't seem to match the character's strength and ability. Some doors, for example, seem like they would go down at the snap of his fingers, yet the player cannot knock them down.

This is especially notable for wooden doors. For all we know, maybe the doors are made of a special kind of wood immune to the Blades of Chaos. This is Ancient Greece we're talking about, with magic and mysticism lost to the sands of time.

3 Words Of Wisdom?

Kratos does his best to teach Atreus all he can. While the above quote is obviously not in the game, it accurately represents the protagonist's speech patterns. It makes one wonder how Kratos got wiser in the time between God of War III and this recent title. Perhaps Faye introduced him to some thought-provoking literature and opened up his eyes to the different ways of the world. We'll never know, because the game starts off with his wife already having died.

2 Bodies Are Heavy

Kratos' strength is immeasurable, at least until he is bogged down by someone's body weight. Players see him lift up unimaginably heavy stone doors and kill gods, yet an average person upon his shoulders prevents him from operating at full capacity. His armor probably weighs as much as a person, so the extra baggage really shouldn't be a huge burden. Fortunately, he rarely carries Atreus, so his son does not hold him back in the newest entry.

1 It Has A Point

Kratos can blame Ares all he wants for the heartbreaking death of his family, but it was him who ultimately cut them down. While he was tricked into it by the former god of war, the protagonist probably wouldn't have so easily fallen for the trick if he thought through his orders more rationally. His blind servitude towards Ares caused him to kill without thinking. If Kratos had moved to Athens and gotten an education, he wouldn't be in the mess he is in today and could have lived out his days as a philosopher or scientist.
